I don't mean to sound negative, but this is really starting to annoy me! mad.gif Every time I come to this site I get pop-ups sad.gif I get pop ups every time I post then go back to the main board, etc.

I post mainly while at work because I don't have time at home these days with a second job. I have a pop-up blocker software on my work computer, but it's so annoying I turn it off, but this site is the only one I'm having problems with and it is just since all the new changes/addtions sad.gif

I'm sorry this is my fault. I was letting some pop-unders slide through but now too many are showing up. I will go ahead and set it so none should show any longer. I can't stand pop-ups myself but since these were pop-unders I thought they might be ok... at least a few but again today for some reason there are way too many and I am truely sorry about that. It may take an hour or so for the update and for them to stop and if for some reason some still show up, let me know and I will take care of the problem.

I was allowing some through because quite honestly they do pay well and the cost of running this site has increased, especially when we were paying google for our advertising which unfortuantly I had to pause. However; they do get annoying so I will use other advertising.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention and again sorry to cause problems.

Oh it's no big deal. I just wondered if it was something with my computer. Let me see if I can get DH to help me figure out this pop-up blocker software first wink.gif I understand how much it must cost to keep this site running so I hate for you to shut them off.

If I have problems with the software, can I pm you?

Oh do not worry about using your pop-up blocker. In fact they cause problems with the coupons we offer on this site.

These should stop in a few hours. I believe our other advertising company might of automaticly turned on pop-ups/unders due to the banners not performing well. They asked for me not to stack them at the bottom so we are now only showing one banner. I sent them an email to eliminate any pop-ups/unders if they were turned on.

With my latest changes, all pop-unders/ups should be eliminated. They will take a couple hours or so to stop as their databases get updated.

I am positive you are not the only one this has bothered today so do not worry about the lack of revenue this will create. I do not want to turn away members including new members as well. I will find other ways to help with costs.

I do ask everyone, that if a banner is of and only if is of any interest to you, please by all means click on it. Banners at the bottom do not perform well because they do not get seen as easily. So just remember there is one down there wink.gif

I feel bad now sad.gif Thanks blush.gif

BTW, I don't mean to sound nosy, but how does the ads work? If we click on them you get $ for them or if we buy something from the ad? There have been a few I've been interested in, but not sure if I would buy so I don't click on them.

Oh do not feel bad at all. Remember this is your community as it is ours.

In the forums we have our main advertisers (who pay every 3,6 or 12 months) which you will see the most of. And we use banner suppliers which are PPC (Pay per click) and PPM (Pay per 1000 impressions/views) with most being PPM. So we get paid if you click on them as well as per 1000 views. However; even with the ones that are PPM they still require a certain click through ratio or the advertiser will no-longer use us. So to answer your question no, you do not need to buy from them for us to get credit. Of course if they offer something of interest feel free to purchase from them.

We also have some banners (especially on the home page) that we make a percentage from each sale. We do not get a credit for click nor impression on these. Examples are Amazon, Leaps and Bounds, Drugstore.com, BabyStyle, Albris, etc. These are not performing well, so I may rethink how to use them.

There is also our Parenting Club Mall which is basicly a custom version of Amazon. All purchases from the Mall uses Amazon and we get a percentage for every sale. I have made significant programming changes to a script for this mall to help gear towards Parenting. Which makes it easier for you all to find your parenting product needs without having to go to Amazon directly. We also have links to Amazon which we also get a percentage of each sale. Unfortuantly the percentage is small so it does take alot of sales to count for anything.

LOL! I was gonna say Cary, I didn't know your name was Karen. DH is going to look at my pop-up blocker here at work. I really can't install any other kind, though.

I, too, would be willing to make a donation TLCDad wink.gif

It seems entrepreneur.com is still showing a pop-under. I have emailed our advertising agent (it looks like they missed this one).

Edited: All popups should now be removed. Let me know if one popsup.

And again, sorry to be the whiner here about all this sad.gif

I do appreciate everything TLCDad and M2A is doing on this board. You two are AWESOME!!!!!!!! Thanks so much for everything you do for us.

And I definately think it would be cool to have a donation button! It wouldn't be pressuring anyone to donate, just if they wanna, they can wink.gif
