What did you all tell your kids about your morning sickness?
I barely had any nausea at all with Ben or AL, but this time my morning sickness is slowly getting worse and worse. At first it was only slight nausea, then it escalated to worsening nausea that has made me need to wear sea bands all day just to feel ok. The kids have asked me about my bracelets, and I have only said that I have tummy aches and that my bracelets make it feel better. Well, this morning things went from bad to worse, and I got the dry heaves walking Ben to school. It really freaked him out. I mean, he has known for about 2 weeks that mommy has tummy aches, and now I am nearly puking . I had to get him as far as the school property then let him go the rest of the way on his own. i was so scared i was going to puke right there in front of all those kids. I don't really want to tell the kids about the baby yet, the very earliest I would want to say something is a week from today when I have a Ultrasound. |

Im not sure what you can say but i think ben will wonder why your tummy ache and vomitting or almost vomitting is still happening 3 months later... With jenna I was lucky i woke up at 630am every morning and my first thing that would happen is me running to the bathroom to throw up and she always was in bed. and if it was during the day she was in school all day. I know why you dont want to tell them about the baby i held out for 3 months before i told jenna because i wanted to make sure the baby was sticking first... maby tell him that your taking these new vitamins( aka prenatals) that your tummy isn't use to so it makes you feel nascious.

yeah, I want to make sure the baby sticks first, I don't want to rock their worlds by dropping this on them then have to explain what happened if something goes wrong. Plus I want it to be a little more concrete when I tell them, Like I want to be able to point to a bump and say see, here it is! The whole thing is so strange I just want them to be able to grasp it ya know? But I could tell this morning that his little mind was racing. |

Well morning sickness is a good sign, and Ben is old enough to understand I think.....when I was soooo sick Jack was so young he didn't even pay attention to my puking all day!
That bites Tara, but they say if you are sick it is a good sign!!!! -------------------- |

Yes ive heard that aswell but my mom had no sickness at all and i was healthy. I dont really agree with this myth. because it could go the opposite as well. Thats why i still held out and waited until i knew for sure.adults can understand it if you should tell your mom and then something happens buta child? its harder and they can take it harder as well.. -------------------- |

ITA. How a baby got there in the first place is something hard enough for them to grasp, let alone how the baby got there and why its not there anymore. I really want to wait until about halloween ish. that will put me at about 13 weeks I think. I'll probably have a decent bump by then too, I already have to rubber band my pants shut. |

But if you keep dry heaving and puking and he sees you he is going to think you are dying!!! I am sure Jack would think that right now if I was pg.......tough tough call!

I dont think kids this age really have an idea of time....
so maybe just tell him you have a "bug" and its just like when he gets an upset tummy, has he been sick lately that he might remember it? or tell him sometimes food just makes people sick if they eat to much or the wrong kind.. or to much candy... -------------------- Stacy, wife to Peter, mom to Caleb, Jakob, and Andrew

i agree kids can wonder whats goign on and why your sick everyday... thats why you should say your taking these adult vitamins that make your tummy sensitive and thats why you feel you do. Or something. Its a fine lie because if you say vitamins they may not want to take thiers in fear of being sick... -------------------- |
