5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE
4 tablespoons flour 4 tablespoons sugar 2 tablespoons cocoa 1 egg 3 tablespoons milk 3 tablespoons oil 3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional) a small splash of vanilla extract 1 large coffee mug Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly. Pour in the milk and oil and mix well. Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again. Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts. The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed! Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired. EAT! (this can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous). And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world? Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night! |

Does this taste like chocolate cake or like a brownie? I am not big on chocolate cake but love brownies.

I think it needed the baking soda, it wasn't bad at all though

Ok Monica I have to ask a few questions now. ![]() What kind of mug should I use for this? Just like a regular mug? How the heck do I know if my microwave is 1000 watts? ![]() Reason I ask is I was thinking this might be a cute gift to give to those 4 million people/neighbors you always have to give gifts too for Christmas, but can never think of anything. All the dry ingredients in a mug (food saver packed) with an instruction card. ![]() I'll have to do some trial and error with it first though. ![]() ![]() Hmmm I wonder if it did need baking soda and how much one would add. ![]() ETD: Never mind that one I just read Jen's post on it. ![]() This post has been edited by MoonMama on Oct 7 2008, 09:39 PM |

I used the biggest mug I have, which is a little bigger than an average mug, it probably holds one and a half of my regular mugs. The inside of my microwave door has the specs on it, mine is 1200 watts (I think) but older so it seems like cooking times have slowed down a little.
It was good enough for me to try it again ![]() |

Ok I couldn't help it, I just gave it a try.
![]() I don't have any large mugs so.... I mixed everything in another container, I DID add the baking soda, and made it in 2 mugs (since DH is still awake and had to have some too ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks so much for posting this Monica. ![]() ![]() This post has been edited by MoonMama on Oct 7 2008, 10:26 PM |
