What I'd like to know is where in the heck are the parents?? I mean, I'm pretty sure if my son had not only a handgun but cocaine on him as well I would probably know about it. Are parents really that unplugged these days? I watch my kids like a hawk. They go NO WHERE without me or DH. Izabella just told me today how mean I am because I won't let her go to her friends house (in another town) because they are having a movie night. First of all I do not know these people, secondly (not that it would make a difference) but the mother never called me. I don't let 7 yr olds make plans and just expect them to be followed through and not talk to a parent. dry.gif She's just going to have to continue thinking I'm the meanest mommy in the world but at least I'll know where she is, what she's doing and with whom.

Humph...as if. rolleyes.gif

IMO more parents should be "mean" and up their childs rear-end and then they'd know if their child had a loaded gun and cocaine.

Seriously Crystal, its not the children with the GOOD parents that are having this issue, chances are he stole THEIR cocaine and brought it to school. dry.gif if they were "GOOD " parents they would have locked that kid up in Juvi with the first offense, and gotten him the help that he needed.

Its so sad. Thank goodness no one was hurt.

Yup, I was about to say the same thing. It's a never ending cycle. His parents are probably crack addicts who don't give a hoot about this child and this is his only way to get attention unfortunately. This world is so sad, unfortunately, because of one person's bad judgment, often times, innocent people get hurt/killed. My kid goes off to school next year and I have to admit I am absolutely petrified. I can't stay home and homeschool because I have to work and I do want her to socialize with other kids, but these kids nowadays scare the crap outta me frankly and I am a nervous wreck about it. I don't trust anyone anymore! It's a sad sad world we live in! It's so horrible that parents have to be scared to send their kids to school, somewhere that should be safe. I swear I'm all for metal detectors in schools, even in elementary schools honestly. ANYTHING for my child's safety and well being!

Sorry I'm off my soapbox.gif now! blush.gif
