Hey ya'll, Thank you for your prayers!

Taylor and I had a play day today and we were on our way home. I was stopped about 20 cars back at a really busy light and I had stopped pretty far back because it is front of a postoffice so I was giving enough room for a few cars that wanted to enter/exit. Anyway I looked in my rearview mirror and saw a car coming wayyyy too fast to stop. He hit us really hard-so hard in fact that he drove under my truck to about the middle of his hood. Taylor's head flew forward and she immediately started crying that her neck hurt and head hurt. EMS got there to check her out and all her vital signs were good but after the police took the report- The guy said he was rearended (NOT)- we waited about 1/2 an hour and she was still hurting and starting to feel sick to her tummy so we went to the hospital...by then I was having really weird tingles all down one side of my neck and back and into my hand. Long and the short of it is Taylor sprained her neck and I have some pinched nerves and one of my vertabre is out of align I also jammed my thumb on the steering wheel because I reached for Tay in the back seat and did not get my hand free.... I am sitting here waiting for the medicatioon from the ER to kick in. I just started bawling typing all this out because I think I am finally having a second to realize how bad this could have been! Poor Bill was several hours away and trying to make it home but I told him now I am just going to crash out (NO pun intended!) They said that Tay should be on the mend in a couple of days but I may need an MRI and a longer course of steriods for the swelling in my neck If anyone knows what I should do any advice will be helpful-I know I have to call my insurance in the morning I wish people would just watch where they are going but I am so thankful that we were in our truck and I think our angels were definately on watch! Thank you again for the prayers!


Oh yeah the truck is OK. some bumper damage and I am pretty sure the alignment is off but his minivan took a bigger hit than we did as far as damage goes!

Oh Abbie I have been waiting for some news, I was so worried about you guys. I'm glad you guys are ok and that is was not worse. Geez why don't people watch what they are doing! I hope you both heal fast.

Oh My Abbie - that is horrifying - getting in an accident without your child in the car is horrible but when your baby is with you it is that much worse....

I would call your insurance agency and I don't want to sound like some sue happy freak because I know that there are people abuse their right to sue, etc. etc. - I have been in the legal field for a long time - but I would consult an attorney because I can GUARANTEE that the insurance company (the person who hit you) will be calling with all kinds of questions and such and you need to make sure you protect yourself - especially with a neck injury or as they would call it in the legal field a soft tissue injury you just never know what the long run will be for you and how it can affect your day to day life AND any medical bills that may come from Tay's and your injury should ALL be paid by their insurance - it gets messy and I don't know anything about Texas law but here in NY you HAVE to protect yourself even if you have no intention of "suing" someone - all that being said I am so glad it wasn't worse and you and Tay are home safe and sound

Also remember if Tay is in a car seat that you that person's insurance to pay for a new one for you - once they are in a crash they aren't considered safe anymore

I agree ... make sure you are protected from any medical bills. I wouldn't settle on anything unless your doctor says for sure that there will be no more medical issues in the future from these injuries. Neck and back injuries can be tricky and I'd be sure the other person 's insurance is going to be responsible for future medical expenses as well. They will try to settle quicky and put a clause in there that you can not sue for future expenses... have an attorny look over it, not just your insurance company. I was hit in a similar situation before Ashley was born (I was slowing down almost stopped due to traffic on the highway and rear ended by a speeding car), and due to the fact that the other driver was under insured and hit three cars, it was a mess and they tried to pay as little as possible. I had to fight to get my expenses covered but I refused to sign the statement that they would not be responsible for any future medical expenses. Luckily I haven't had any problems, but the doctor told me that only time would tell if it would be an issue in the future.

We had a lot going on last night and I didn't get back on Parenting Club and didn't see Mel's message. I am so sorry this happened... so scary! I bet poor Taylor was just so scared. I am glad you both were checked out. I hope you both heal quickly... please keep us posted on how you are doing.

Oh Abbie what a horrible experience. I'm so glad it's not worse though. I'd definitely call an attorney today. His insurance is responsible for all of your medical bills, keep ALL of your receipts. I used to work in personal injury so if you have any questions call me.

Hope you got some rest and you and Tay aren't too sore this morning. Both of you need to take it easy.

Good grief!! I have chills. I'm so glad that you are both okay. ITA about calling your insurance company as well. I hope you and Taylor both get to feeling better.

OMG you poor thing! Bless your and Tay's little hearts. Scared me to death when I read Mel's post, then I saw this update. I'm so sorry you guys are both sore. That really stinks. I hope you guys recoup fast and KUP on how you two are feeling.

Thanks everyone! We are still very sore and moving slow. Now we are waiting on the police report and insurance companies to hash it out!
