I called my mom over my lunch break today to see if she would watch Maddie tonight for a little bit because I wanted to get my hair cut... She answered bawling... All I made out was "fire"... "dead"...

Her boyfriend (he's like my #2 dad) He and his kids lived with us a couple years ago but decided it wasn't working (too many dogs/kids not enough space) But my mom and him stayed together..... He is our Fire Chief.....

His house caught on fire from a gas leak this morning around 1130... They had 2 dogs (who were like my own) they died - They were found lying in my "step-sisters" bed. The house is 100% gone, nothing was salvagable. No people were hurt but the dogs, family photos, everything is gone.

What really makes me mad is that the News stations were there and people were taking pictures and starting rumors at the scene (even while the fire was burning still) about "hmm its kind of shady that the Fire Chiefs house burned down). People need to butt out.
It was so sad seeing the dogs brought out of the house, they were such sweet dogs.

I also wanted to say that it was my "step-brothers" 21st Bday yesterday and he went out and got really drunk, he was trying to call off of work this morning but Steve(my "step-dad) made him go to work - If he would have stayed home from being hung-over he would have died in the explosion.

Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers.

How traumatic. I'm glad to hear nobody was hurt but losing your pets is just awful and the devastation of every single personal item being gone forever is gut wrenching hug.gif hug.gif

Oh wow, house fires are awful...I've had several people close to me experience them. You will forever change the way you think about so many things. Prayers for all of your family!

That is a horrible story. I am so very sorry. Thank God the people all got out, but I am sorry about the loss of the dogs and home. hug.gif
