Welp, my right hand is still in quite a bit of pain (just really sore) but the surgery went as well as can be expected. I did NOT want to have sedation but ended up having to when the numbing block on my arm made my feel like passing out -- room spinning and all wacko.gif
The nurse asked if I wanted some sedation with the oxygen, I said yes and the next thing I remember is the nurses wiping my tears as I was crying or better yet that hyperventilating cry type sob (exactly why I didn't want the sedation) dry.gif
I remember that part vividly and I remember her telling me it was okay, to breathe and open my eyes, but I couldn't for several minutes. So the wake up was eventful!

I was expecting a small splint with some guaze, but nope... because of the location
This is what I get for a week!

YIKES! Ok, I'm putting off the surgery for even longer now!

Sorry it wasn't a better experience for you. Where exactly was the cyst?

Hope the pain goes away soon.
I've never had surgery, or been under any sedation but I heard it is rough coming "out" from being "under" anesthesia.

It was right here:

so on the inner side of my wrist below the thumb. The reason those are more difficult to remove are because of their location close to the artery and those tendons.

The surgery itself really wasn't bad (only lasted 16 minutes)... I guess I should just know by now that I don't do well with anesthesia like that. Next time I would ask for the sedatives right away, I'll take the sniffling wake up over the spinning room anytime wink.gif

I've actually heard of doctors removing them in office before too, I guess it depends on the location

Oh gosh, that's exactly where mine is but flipped, on the left wrist. What's the recovery time, past the 1 week wrapped up?

hmmm. not sure yet until i go back next week. They say anywhere from 2-4 weeks but that is restriction from major lifting and such. I'm already supposed to be moving my fingers and thumb (which really eases the soreness) and will be back at the preschool Thursday with strict instructions to "be careful" (I'm actually more worried about my 45 minute interstate journey to get there!)

The fact that it is on my writing hand is the hardest part but also the main reason I wanted it gone. It caused a lot of pain before so I figure it will be better in the long run.

Well I hope it heals quickly for you. Mine doesn't bother me so I think I'll hold off for a while. Thanks for answering all my questions.
