Here's one - get some finger paint, a marker, some pieces of cardboard in pretty Easter-ish colors, some scissors, some glue, some big paper plates (or plastic), and some clear finish paint.
(Mummy or Daddy can also do this for their children if they are too small to properly do it themselves...) First, help your child(ren) pick a color of paint, pit some in an extra plate, dip the palm of their hand in it, and make a painted handprint in the middle of the paper plate your child will be working with. Next, help your chil(ren) cut out some egg shapes (from small to medium - penny sized to quarter sized) from the cardboard. While you are doing this, the paint on the plate should be drying. Help your child(ren) to glue the egg shapes around the handprint. Take the marker, and have your child(ren) write their name and the year, or do it for them, somwhere on the plate. Next, make sure the handprint is fully dry, take the clear finish paint, and put a coat of it on the front of the plate. Once that is dry, paint the other side of the plate too. When you are finished, wait for the paint to be completely dry before allowing your child(ren) to use the plate as a plate. It will be kinda shiny, and can be used for little not-too-messy things like cookies, crackers, sandwiches, or even just a personalized palte for Easter treats on a hunt... To clean it, just take a moist papertowel and hand wipe. It can be hung on a wall, yu can do whatever you like with it! Alternatively, you can paste a small picture of the child on top of the handprint... makes it more personal. Enjoy! -------------------- The richest people don't have the best of everything, they make the best of everything.

How cute! Thanks for the idea. Is there a special kind of clear paint you have to get so that it can be used for food?

I'm not sure... I used a clear coat of acrylic paint, then I used a coat of clear wood varnish..the kind you use on tables... but then again,Zach obviously doesn't eat out of a plate...
I don't know... I made this up... but you can surely find something similar on the web, or even just ask your local hardware or paint store... -------------------- The richest people don't have the best of everything, they make the best of everything.

Well, it was a clever idea...I'm gonna do it wiht Ashley's hand print. I bet the craft store would have something that is safe if she were to use the plate to eat off of when she gets older.
I am not a crafty person, but I can handle this one! THANKS -------------------- |
