I know that some of you ladies have asked about telecommuting and such. I was unable to locate the exact posts so I just started a new topic. wink.gif
I ran across this tonight when I was cleaning off my hard drive. It is geared towards my postion as a collector/bankruptcy specialist at a credit union and was written while I was on maternity leave. I hope this helps someone. If nothing else, perhaps it will serve as a template for information that you may want to include in your proposals. I did alot of research for it and I would hate for all of it to go to waste. rolleyes.gif

By the way, this is pretty dry reading if you aren't considering this...don't even bother. LOL

That is awesome! I think that anyone considering approaching their workplace about doing this would do well to read your work.

So......they did agree, right? lol

I've requested from y workplace to work from home....I made up a proposal and everything, outlining what I would be doing etc... but since I am *only and assistant*, I can't work from home.

Which is dumb, in my opinion, because the 4 lawyers I work for are NEVER in the office. They all travel, on average, 3 weeks in a month. The other week is spread out a day here, 2 days there, and usually they work from home ANYWAYS. So it's pretty stupid....but I can't work from home, and the reason is *it's against policy to allow administrative assistants to work at home*.

Ugh.

Actually, they didn't accept it. They werent' really a very progressive company and they also micro-managed. They cant fathom someone working unless their manager is watching them. I hated the place anyway and was happy to have an excuse to leave. tongue.gif

I'm sorry that your firm didn't accept your proposal. Maybe you could inquire around to see if a "Virtual Legal Secretary" would be helpful to local firms. Then you could just work for yourself working on documents from home.

Cary-
That is great! I think someone could definetly benefit from that. I wish I had that opportunity...it would be so nice. The only thing I can think of is transcription from home and I am checking into that. wink.gif
