Spencer's story, for Cary and anyone that is new:
Last year, Spencer (9 years old) had been sick off and on. In December, his blood counts dropped and the doctors did a biopsy. On Jan 7, 2006 Spencer was diagnosed with Lukemia. He went through chemo and a bone marrow transplant. There were some very scary times along the way, but at the end of May this year, Spencer got to come home. We were all so thrilled when Spencer got to come home. At the beginning of this month (August), Kirsten informed us that his cancer is back and he is in the hospital now. Spencer's bone marrow has stopped making white cells and did not react to such a drop in his hemoglobin. He is scheduled to have another bone marrow biopsy. We love you Spencer and we are all praying for you!!!! -------------------- |

She likes the 1001 things to spot books. There's a search box at the top of the list if you search on 1001, then you will see all the 1001 spot books. There's a fairyland one that is really cute. There's also another collection of princess stories that she likes. It's called the Usborne book of Princess Stories. The jigsaw puzzle books are really cute too. The books tell a story and each page is a puzzle. (A good suggestion is to turn the puzzle pieces over and write the page number on the back of the puzzle in case they get mixed up) This is going to sound weird, but she also likes the "Children's Encyclopedia IL" (The purple one). I got it for her when she gets older, but she likes it now. She likes to open a page and learn about something new each day... one day it is the solar system and the next day it is the human body. OK, I have a weird daughter. She also likes the beginning phonics books since she is starting to read. I just ordered her the beginners cookbook and cooking kit. We haven't gotten it yet, but I have a feeling she will love it. I ordered her the cards for telling time. I saw these when I went to the presentation. You can write on and wipe off the cards, and it helps the kids to learn to tell time. And, I ordered her the dinosaur excavation kit... LOL. She loves to learn about dinosaurs. I haven't received any of these items yet, but if they are like the things we have received in the past, I am sure they will be high quality and Ashley will love them. -------------------- |

If you guys would like, I could see about scheduling an e-chat with the rep. She could answer a lot of your questions and make suggestions based on age group.

In case anyone missed it, Cary also worked out a scrapbooking deal as well.

I'm not sure if they do ship internationally or not, but I just sent an email to the lady and will let you know what I find out.

I just got an email back that YES they do ship internationally. She (Janelle DeLaet) said she hasn't dealt with an international order before but it can be done. She also mentioned if you need help with the checkout process to email her. Her email address link is on the website link Dee Dee provided in the beginning of this thread.

Oh...sorry. I didn't see this question. Thank you Karen for checking on the international shipping. I know that they can at least ship to Canada... I asked this because of the books that would need to be shipped to Spencer. Glad to know they can ship elsewhere internationally. -------------------- |

Just for clarification, if you live outside of the United States, then you will need to follow a different procedure to order your books. Just pick out the books you want, and instead of processing them through the online check-out, you will need to send your information to Janelle Delaet via email. Her email is listed at the top of the bookstore page. She will order and ship the books to locations outside of the United States... they will not be shipped directly from Usborne. If you have any questions, please feel free to email Janelle directly... or I would be happy to relay your questions.
Thank you! Dee Dee -------------------- |
