Our baby is 12 weeks old and we think she might be teething. How long does it usually take for a tooth to come in.......from the time they start fussing to the time in actually pokes through?

Help please!!!!!

Poor Baby, that teething stuff is so rough on them and YOU. I really don't think there's any easy way to gauge how long it will take...mainly based on genetics, I believe. Could be a couple of days to a week or more...Don't mean to freak ya out, cause I know how hard it is to deal with this. (I have 4)

As for the pain...a lot of folks swear by the lil teething tablets that dissolve almost instantly...can be found at Walmart in the pharmacy area...usually around the vitamin and herbal aisle. You can also use infant's tylenol, ask your pharmacist or make a call to the dr to find out dosage and just to ok it first.

Just mainly takes a lot of patience and prayer wink.gif

GOOD LUCK!

ITA. It varies from child to child and from tooth to tooth. An easy way to see if it actually is a tooth is to shine a light on your baby's gums. If you can see a little white line in the gum, it is probably time to break out the oragel and tylenol.
PS I learned about the light trick on this board. My first post was a freak out over my son teething.

My son started teething at 3 months, but he didn't get his 1st tooth until he was 9 or 10 months old! (usually they do get their teeth earlier than Cam did, he was a late bloomer with his teeth)

But I do know that teething symptoms come and go. It takes awhile for the 1st tooth to pop through, and it can be pretty painful for them.

One thing I would suggest is to buy Teething Tablets. They are all-natural, and instantly dissolve in their mouth. It helps with the pain, fussiness, and helps them to fall asleep. You can buy them at Rite-Aid, or Walgreens.

When the tooth is ready to pop out, the gum will get bright white. She will have a hard time sleeping, drooling, and fussy.

Teething is a tricky thing, and every baby is different. It could come tomorrow, or 3 months from now. Just try to comfort her. hug.gif

Wow! I had no idea a baby could start teething so young. My daughter is almost 11 weeks...I guess I should consider that possibility when she gets overly cranky. sad.gif
