Just a quick pop in here. You are all so kind it feels great to come here and read all the replies, gives me a lift.

We are just now in the waiting game, my stepdads surgery started 3hours ago at 9:30am here. I am waiting for either my sister or my mom to call and let me know what is going on and it is driving me nuts. Oh well, just have to try and make the day go faster anyway I can.

I really haven't done what I had set out to do - start with earnest taking care of me. I only half-assed it when it comes to my food this week. I really didn't go off the deepend with it but I really could have done worse. Oh well, just taking it slowly one day at a time.

I will try and get back here throughout the day today and more during the week.

Just got the call, 5 hours later in surgery and they got all the tumor now they are waiting on the labs for all the other areas they biopsied, lymphs and all. We all think he was further along then he let on. My sis said that he confided in her after they cancelled his surgery last week that he was feeling the cancer now. Not sure what that meant but we are still praying for good results but my gut is telling me otherwise. bawling.gif bawling.gif

Thanks Di, I am okay, really just taking it one day at a time and focusing on me and what I need to get me healthy and to a healthier weight. My step-dad is doing well, he was sitting up last night in a chair. My mom took my niece up to see him and he really liked the visit. We are going to see him on Sunday and may take Matthew as they are pretty close, Thomas would just tear the place apart. Thanks for thinking of me.

Hi, I know, I know I have been MIA over the weekend. We were real busy around the house and had to go to Cambridge for my nephews First Communion, had a great time and visit, and we got a visit in with my step dad. He looked real rough and felt awful, he used a more expletive word that I will not use here. He had a bad day on Saturday and had a tube put in his nose down to his stomach to pump out everything that was in it. His doctor came to him today with the results of the the rest of the testing. It was not good news, bawling.gif bawling.gif bawling.gif the cancer has spread to the rest of his body and to his lymph nodes. bawling.gif bawling.gif bawling.gif He will be starting chemo therapy once he heals from the surgery, could be a month to 6 weeks before that happens. I had a feeling this was the news we were going to get because of how long the surgery was to get the tumor out. Okay, I know this is not weight related but I needed a place to let this out. Thanks, we are looking at a long road yet to travel. I will try and be around here more because you are all a great source of comfort to me. I am waiting for my sister to call me later again tonight as she is going up to visit him now and hopefully get some more answers from him as my mom wasn't very helpful. She just said she really didn't ask the doctors much when she was there because of the way my step dad reacted. When the doctor was telling them, he just went red faced and had tears streaming down his face. bawling.gif bawling.gif I can't write anymore, I will try and post again soon. sad.gif

Thanks Ladies, we are taking it slowly, it really hasn't sunk in yet. We are still reeling from the surgery and now we have to wait for him to heal and then move on to his other treatments. It means that we won't be seeing much of him for the next little while, because if the boys or us are sick we can't be near him for fear of him catching it. I am having my moments here today where 1 minute I am fine and the next a wreck. bawling.gif We are trying to get my mom to slow down as she spends every waking minute that she isn't at work at the hospital. She is wearing herself down. I also found out my sister that the cruise they were on probably saved his life, because by him eating all those rich fatty foods he was able to trigger his body into exhibiting the symptons that forced him to go to the doctor's to be looked at.

Thanks again, I have WI tonight and even with all my hard work this week I am not too optimistic.

Terri I'm so sorry. I've been so busy lately that I haven't had a chance to check in much on the board and read up on posts. I feel so bad.

Your step dad is in my prayers. hug.gif Please keep us posted, hun. Take care of yourself.

Thanks Aimee, I am surviving day by day. Things are going okay, he comes home either today or tommorow. I will know more later today. You looked awesome in that dress, you are a source of inspiration for me. Take care and may life slow down for you.

This is a new week for me WW/wise, I had weigh in last night and have finally lost all that I had put on over the last month. I lost 5.2 pounds last night. I was totally shocked, I was hoping to stay the same or lose at least a pound. I know if I wasn't following CORE I would have given up a long time ago especially with all the added stress this year. I am slowly adding activity again to my weekly regieme, be it either yard work, shooting hoops with Matthew or doing one of my dvd's it all adds up.

I am going to run now and do some work, lol. Will try and check in later.

Oh, Terri. I've been so caught up in my own struggles, I haven't been very good at keeping up with others. I am so sorry to read about your stepfather. What an awful feeling that must be. I used to work in an oncology office and I can tell you that the doctors and nurses who go into that field will absolutely awe you with their care and compassion. I'll keep praying for you and your family.
Congratulations on such a wonderful loss. You've come so far and it really shows. Following any diet/exercise program isn't easy when you're under such stress. I'm proud of you. hug.gif

Congrats on the loss, that is great. I know how hard it is to keep up with it while under so much stress but you really do have to take care of you so you can be strong for others. CONGRATS again, you loser biggrin.gif

That's good you are learning to cope with it differently. I have too, in many ways. Jogging/running has been a great source for me of coping with stress. It's probably the only reason when I do workout that I do. laugh.gif

Good morning, thought I would update a little on SD(stepdad), he is home now. They released him last night before dinner. Apparently he ate soft foods yesterday and the day before so they felt he was ready to go home. He is getting around pretty good, he now just has to adjust to the colostomy bag and all that goes with it. My sister, I think, is taking him grocery shopping because he is on a real strict diet as to what he can and cannot eat now that he has no bowels. He had to throw out a lot of food, I am hoping he gave it to my sister instead of throwing it out. I am pretty sure he and my mom won't be coming to the cottage as we are having a ton of people there this year for my BIL's 50th and SD already said before all of this that he really didn't want to be around that many people. They are also going to see how well he react to both chemo-therapy and the radiation. Oh well, a lot less stress for me.

Food wise I am doing okay, had a little slip last night, ketchup chips yummy.gif we calling my name. All is good as it is the beginning of my week and I will be good the rest of the week. I am here 2 days in a row, wow, I haven't done this in a while. Gonna run the boss just arrived and I gotta do some work. Will check back in throughout the day. smile.gif

bawling.gif Hi, well we are on another roller coaster now. My cousin(who I am very close with) just lost her father-in-law. She is my age, has 5 children and lives on a farm. The FIL was in the same hospital as my stepdad and when we were down for my nephews first communion they all went up to see him and my stepdad. They were told her FIL needed and operation and either without it or with it his prognosis was very grim. They did the surgery last night and he didn't make it. bawling.gif bawling.gif bawling.gif bawling.gif . I am not sure how much more pain and anguish we can all take in our family. I also learned last night that one of my favourite aunts and uncles are divorcing after about oh, 20-25 years of marriage. sad.gif bawling.gif sad.gif ohmy.gif sad.gif bawling.gif sad.gif I just don't know what to do. I will most likely be scarce here again and wel will be going back to Cambridge for either the funeral or at least a visitation. I may try and leave the kids here when we go down, they really don't need this right now.

Gonna run before I lost it again. bawling.gif bawling.gif Seems all I have been doing at work and here lately is bawling.gif .

eta: My stepdad is doing okay, having a bad day right now but is plugging along.
