I'm on strike. I will cook small things for me and the kids, but I REFUSE to cook a huge meal every night. Scotty can eat a darn sandwich when he comes home. I am so peeved. mad.gif

Scotty came home last night and ATE A CAN OF PEACHES!!! I cooked pork tenderloin, yellow squash, brocolli and potatoes b/c all he talked about was how hungry he was. HE DIDN'T TOUCH IT WHEN HE GOT HOME!!! dry.gif I threw it in the trash and told him that I'm not going to cook for him again. growl.gif

I haven't heard from him today, either. I'm not gonna call him. I know he won't take the time to call me. mad.gif

hug.gif Well, he just doesn't know what he's missing! Let him suffer, LOL. I'd much rather eat what you made than a can of peaches thumb.gif !

I'm sorry Aimee. hug.gif That was rude of him and it serves him right if he doesn't get any home-cooked meals from you for awhile. I would have cried too-I'm really sensitive about my cooking, especially since I'm not the best cook, but I really try my best. rolleyes.gif

wow that sounded like such a nice dinner, wish I could cook like you...my specialty is taking the food out of the take-out containers...

hug.gif I would've eaten what you cooked anyday, you should cook something really nice when you know dh is going to eat it, but when you serve him just put a plate with a tin of peaches in front of him....

He never said why. I know he didn't eat a late lunch. He hardly ate anything for lunch. dunno.gif If I don't cook he goes on and on..."What am I going to eat blahblah.gif " If I do cook he doesn't eat it.

I give up.

Gosh, it sounds like you made a nice meal.

That was pretty rude of him, I don't blame you for not wanting cook for him. I'd be the same way if hubby didn't eat something I had cooked.

What the heck is wrong with him? Did he just have a bad day at work and taking it out on you?...there is no excuse, but Scotty sounds so sweet all the time, I can't imagine him being such a baby about what he gets to eat! Hope he comes to his senses. I make (okay I ask) DH to make dinner at least once a week. This way he understands how hard it is. It's never anything good because he doesn't really know how to cook, but I never complain. Just the fact he does it is good enough for me! Can you try this with Scotty?

eewww a can of peaches over that meal...he is crazy wacko.gif not to steal your thread my complaint in the dinner catagorie is when he tells me he is not humgry and to go ahead and get Kait and I somethign, fine I do and then her hovers around tring to get some or me to fix something else growl.gif I hate when he does this, thankfully its not very often and I think he learned his lesson the last time wink.gif He does cook at least once a week or he is supposed to.

so he was such a pain on dinner and yoru right dont bust the cooking out for him, let him cook for him self

dry.gif smash.gif oh hon, i am sorry he did that. i know how much that hurts. i have the same problem here and rarely cook big meals anymore because of it. like, do they think it is easy slaving over a stove for 2 hours with screaming kids and stuff to deal with, so they have something decent to eat?! then the don't eat it?! growl.gif
my DH should own shares in his coffee truck at work by now dry.gif eating that crud over home cooking growl.gif . sorry to vent in your thread. i feel your pain. hug.gif hug.gif

Scotty normally cooks a big meal on Sundays and he does a great job. We are both really good cooks and on Sundays we like to prepare 'gourmet food'. We will spend a little extra on quality ingredients and get out our cookbooks and see what we want to cook. I guess it is a joint effort on Sundays and has become a tradition. happy.gif

On his way home the other night he called me to ask me what I cooked for dinner and I told him "Pork tenderloin". He asked what I marinated it in and I told him, but maybe he didnt' like it? dunno.gif Perhaps he was hoping I would have used a rub instead? He never said and I was too perturbed to ask. rolleyes.gif It could have also been that I didn't fix his plate for him and put it in the microwave. I left the food covered for him to fix his own plate b/c I wasn't sure if he would want all the veggies. He is so finicky. He will eat anything, but if it isn't prepared JUST EXACTLY the way HE wants it he won't touch it.

BTW- I ask him EVERYDAY what he wants for dinner and he will say 'whatever'. So, I'll say "We are having pork chops...how do you want them prepared?" Of course he always suggests the most fattening way. dry.gif Knowing full well I'm on a darn diet. He always wants the most fattening foods. Maybe that's why he hasn't been eating my cooking lately. laugh.gif

And he will also say "Go ahead and get something for you and the kids" But, when he comes home he says "What am I going to eat??" growl.gif

I digress....sorry to go on and on about this.

Aimee,

You and your husband sound similar to my parents. My dad always expects dinner on the table, prepared a certain way and to his liking. If he gets home late he expects her to fix him a plate, etc, etc.

This is probably why I don't like to cook. tongue.gif My mom stresses out still to this day about meals, etc.

If it makes you feel any better...just for laughs...I have a DH who's parents own a gourmet food store so talk about picky! And my DH won't eat dairy or pork and all meals need to have some form of protein in them...which makes it difficult when you eliminate both dairy and pork!! I suppose it's great for me because it is somewhat less fattening, but sometimes I want a greasy ol cheese pizza with canadian bacon on it! NOPE!

Anyhow...I do know exactly how you feel. Before we had Wil, and we were both working outside the home, we shared the cooking. Now it's mostly on me. And I find it very insulting if he doesn't like what I cook. Especially because I think he often takes it for granted and just assumes I've whipped something up on my spare time! It's hard to cook with kids around...especially cook well! You have to shop, prep and time it all right!

Have him make up for it by taking you out. I enjoy sitting down for dinner and making DH food...but if he's late, he's totally on his own. Happened last night as a matter of fact...so I left some defrosted meat out for him, a bun, and some ketchup and I went to bed! snooze.gif

Exactly what I was going to say! That is an awesome meal especially knowing how hard it is to cook with kids to take care of.

I'd do the same thing you said, let him eat sandwiches for a week, bet he'll be greatful next time you do cook, even if it's mac-n-cheese!
