I'm on strike. I will cook small things for me and the kids, but I REFUSE to cook a huge meal every night. Scotty can eat a darn sandwich when he comes home. I am so peeved.
Scotty came home last night and ATE A CAN OF PEACHES!!! I cooked pork tenderloin, yellow squash, brocolli and potatoes b/c all he talked about was how hungry he was. HE DIDN'T TOUCH IT WHEN HE GOT HOME!!! I haven't heard from him today, either. I'm not gonna call him. I know he won't take the time to call me. |

Gosh, it sounds like you made a nice meal.
That was pretty rude of him, I don't blame you for not wanting cook for him. I'd be the same way if hubby didn't eat something I had cooked. -------------------- Tina wife to Rob (Sept. 25, 1999)

What the heck is wrong with him? Did he just have a bad day at work and taking it out on you?...there is no excuse, but Scotty sounds so sweet all the time, I can't imagine him being such a baby about what he gets to eat! Hope he comes to his senses. I make (okay I ask) DH to make dinner at least once a week. This way he understands how hard it is. It's never anything good because he doesn't really know how to cook, but I never complain. Just the fact he does it is good enough for me! Can you try this with Scotty?

Scotty normally cooks a big meal on Sundays and he does a great job. We are both really good cooks and on Sundays we like to prepare 'gourmet food'. We will spend a little extra on quality ingredients and get out our cookbooks and see what we want to cook. I guess it is a joint effort on Sundays and has become a tradition.
On his way home the other night he called me to ask me what I cooked for dinner and I told him "Pork tenderloin". He asked what I marinated it in and I told him, but maybe he didnt' like it? BTW- I ask him EVERYDAY what he wants for dinner and he will say 'whatever'. So, I'll say "We are having pork chops...how do you want them prepared?" Of course he always suggests the most fattening way. And he will also say "Go ahead and get something for you and the kids" But, when he comes home he says "What am I going to eat??" I digress....sorry to go on and on about this. |

Aimee,
You and your husband sound similar to my parents. My dad always expects dinner on the table, prepared a certain way and to his liking. If he gets home late he expects her to fix him a plate, etc, etc. This is probably why I don't like to cook. -------------------- ~*Karen*~

If it makes you feel any better...just for laughs...I have a DH who's parents own a gourmet food store so talk about picky! And my DH won't eat dairy or pork and all meals need to have some form of protein in them...which makes it difficult when you eliminate both dairy and pork!! I suppose it's great for me because it is somewhat less fattening, but sometimes I want a greasy ol cheese pizza with canadian bacon on it! NOPE!
Anyhow...I do know exactly how you feel. Before we had Wil, and we were both working outside the home, we shared the cooking. Now it's mostly on me. And I find it very insulting if he doesn't like what I cook. Especially because I think he often takes it for granted and just assumes I've whipped something up on my spare time! It's hard to cook with kids around...especially cook well! You have to shop, prep and time it all right! Have him make up for it by taking you out. I enjoy sitting down for dinner and making DH food...but if he's late, he's totally on his own. Happened last night as a matter of fact...so I left some defrosted meat out for him, a bun, and some ketchup and I went to bed! -------------------- Rae SAHM to Wil (4) and Wesley (2) ~ Wife to Richard 10/20/01

Exactly what I was going to say! That is an awesome meal especially knowing how hard it is to cook with kids to take care of. I'd do the same thing you said, let him eat sandwiches for a week, bet he'll be greatful next time you do cook, even if it's mac-n-cheese! -------------------- Naomi, Wife to Tim & Mommy to Thomas (7) and Andrew (2)
