Well I don't know about everyone else, but Tyler is so excited to start school! I was hesitant on sending him this fall, because he will be young. Ty turns 5 in July. The cut off is Sept 30. That would make some kids pretty young, if you ask me. Just thought I'd share!

My son turned 5 in May before he started and he did fine. Tyler is a little younger but I'm sure he'll do great.
Does he get to ride a school bus? That was our big event. DIllon couldn't wait to get on the bus. And Mommy... get a camera and some tissues ready because you are going to need them!!! -------------------- |

My dd Madeline starts this fall too. I'm planning on homeschooling her and I am getting sooo nervous!!! It's amazing how fast they grow up isn't it?
I started kindergarten when I was 4 (I turned 5 four days later) and I think I turned out pretty good!! -------------------- ~*~Jennifer~*~

Up here they start them in Junior kindergarten when they are 4, some are 3 (like Thomas will be) then turn before Dec 31. Matthew started last fall and was really ready for it.

Up here, they have Headstart, which is like pre-kindergarten. The teacher comes to your house for a couple days a week, and the child goes to the center for a couple days. I can't remember exactly, it's been awhile! But Ethan will be doing that this fall already !
I know when my oldest started, I was just bawling , seeing him get on that big bus all by himself, knowing that now is when it all started. I wasn't going to have him to myself anymore! He would look at his teacher with those adoring eyes, instead of me . I guess I'm just a little selfish ! |

My oldest started Kg last fall, and it was so hard for me to put him on that big bus. But he loves it and I adjusted pretty quickly to sending him to school every day. He had only had one year of preschool, and was shy so I worried about how he'd like Kg. But he has lots of fun, learned so much, and has plenty of friends.
My 4 year old daughter will have another year of preschool, then start Kg in Fall 2004. She loves school, espcially the social part. But I am thinking about holding our 3rd back a year. His b-day is in July (he'll be 3 this year) and he is far behind where his older brother and sister were at his age. He doesn't speak very well, has no iterest in potty training, and I just think he won't be ready (socially or academically) by Fall 2005. I am having his speech evaluated in June, and if he has a 25% deficency for his age then he can go into a program to help him speak better. If he progresses well I'd consider sending him Fall 2005, but I am not planning on it. I think it depends on each child idividually. I am sure your son will do well in Kg. I went early and was fine. -------------------- Martie

I started school (pre-kindergarden) at 4, and I skipped kindergarden. So I was 5 in Grade 1, and I turned 6 near the end of it. The only problem was that I was always 1 - 1 1/2 years younger than everyone else, so I got excluded from certain circles of friends because of my age. Other than that, I was perfectly fine!

I think he will be fine...but you are the best judge of where he is emotionally, socially and academically. Although, it sounds like he is excited about going!!
Break out the tissues and camera. Hugs! -------------------- |
