After readinga post else where about hormons and the patch (moodiness) after much thought I have noticed that I am well DH is having to deal with it.. which right now I am looking at my options.. DH said he would look into getting a vasectomy... I am leaning towards that as well at the IUD. Reason being is I just went through way to much mental and physical problems getting pregnant, going the 8 months, and up until now. I dont think Devin will have a problem being an only child... but that is just me. Although what if by chance that we do decide later on we want another one... then the snip is not the way to go... ugh choices, never good with them...
Ok the whole point of this post was to ask if anyone has used this type of IUD? Also how did you like it? Oh heck does anyone use an IUD here? Have any of you gotten pregnant using an IUD? Thanks so many questions... Trust me there is a call going in to my Dr.s office on Tuesday about this... Here is the info so far I have found if anyone is interested... http://www.paragard.com/new_installs/paragard/index.php |

I have the mirena IUD, and I love it. This is my second mirena. I had my first put in after I had dd #1, and had it removed in March of 04. I found out I was pregnant with #2 6 weeks later.
I like that mirena has a small amount of hormones, which go directly to your uterus. I get almost no period, it's just a barely there kind of spotting. And it has not affected my bf at all. In my ob/gyn's office, all of the female docs, nurses, and assistants use it. http://www.mirena-us.com/ Hope this helps! -------------------- Michelle

Oh, and I wanted to add that IUD insertion is really easy, it's just like having a pap smear, but there is a little cramping as they insert it. I had mine put in at 6 weeks post partum, so it was nothing compared to labor!

Thanks for the info... I am seriously thinking about this. Now lets just hope I can talk Dh into it... cause we have NO health insurance...so this is all out of pocket. I will use the this is cheaper than having a baby...lol

I have the Mirena IUD too, but I haven't decided if I will keep it in or not yet, bc I have mixed feelings about it.
I also had a really easy insertion, but I spotted heavily for 8 weeks afterwards as well as gaining weight around my midsection (dr said due to the hormones?), I had pretty bad cramps also. Now that I have had it in for a while, I have noticed that my cycle is around every 6 weeks now, and I was PMSing for almost 2 weeks last cycle! Argh, and when I do get AF, it is for a week, when I used to be 4 days My dr said eventually AF will become very light or even not show at all though, and hey that would be nice. lol I think it is a very personal decision, but there is my experience HTH. (I chose it for 1 bc I got preggo on the pill with ds1, and 2 we don't want anymore kids, but I have read it MAY cause problems if you do want to get preggo later) -------------------- Amanda

I have the Mirena and love it as well. Didn't have my period for 6 months-very cool.
