for some reason today my supply has dramatically changed I'm only making about half of what i usually make and Autumn only pooped one time today it wasn't like this yesterday she screamed so much that I made her a formula bottle (although I bawled and I'm still bawling) I am so scared I'm going to dry up I pumped after I fed her and while dh gave her the bottle bawling.gif I have drank 3 32ounce glasses of water and ate well the only thing I can think of is the antibiotic but I'm on day 3 and its JUST now effecting my mild production? she had plenty of poops yesterday. I don't know what to do but I REALLY want to breastfeed this baby more than anything... I knew it would be hard I just never imagined it would be this hard.. bawling.gif bawling.gif

ETA: I just realized I haven't eaten good today, could that make the difference because it was fine during the night and this morning and then this afternoon is when it started tappering off

when i bf'd I really had to eat lots of small meals thru out the day and really drink the water..
how about a nice bath and a snack..i think relaxing sometimes is half the battle. i also would just put jake on to nurse and let him suck for as long as he wanted...
and that usually stimulated it enough that my supply would bounce right back.

i really didnt get as much with the pump.
can you just sit and relax in a nice chair and let her nurse from side to side, even if she isnt hungry sometimes just having her latched on might help..

i am not an expert at this...

but i do know i had good and bad days. dont panick. just take it feeding by feeding..

i also forgot to ask, can you call a pharmacy now if you cant call your dr and ask about the antibiotic? ask if it could make your supply stop?

Which antibiotic are you on?

I know that there were just some days where I had lower supply. If it goes on for more than a day or so, there are things you can take to help you increase it. But I would read from this first. http://www.kellymom.com/bf/supply/low-supply.html#supply

Any time I have a bf question, I always look at her site first. But it is possible for medications to decrease supply. That's why it helps to know which antibiotic.

You've been sick lately right? It's probably a combo of that & stress. ITA w/ just nursing as long as possible for a bit & try eating a bowl of oatmeal. hug.gif

I think its better today after I posted I ate a bowl of cereal and I nursed a lot and pumped a couple of time last night and seemed to come right back and she is a LOT happier today but she still hasn't pooped and really wonder if that isn't that antibiotics because one of the side effects is gastrointestinal issues nothing serious but I really wonder if its got her a little constipated because when she poops she cries and then afterwards she is fine she did finally go twice yesterday.

btw I'm on cephalexin, thank you michelle for the link it was really helpful I did look at kellymom website but I didn't see that page smile.gif
