Ashley would nurse on either side with no problem until the last month or so. Gradually, she has begun to favor one side. If she is hungry, I can get her to start on the other side, but not for long. I have heard that if she always eats on the same side that it can lower your supply, so sometimes I pump on the other side.
Any ideas? -------------------- |

I have a friend who's son wouldn't nurse on one side at all. He has been almost exclusively nursed on just one breast. Eventually, she evened out so you can't tell. But he's 2.5 now and hasn't neither of them have had a problem.
I wouldn't think it would be an issue, as long as you nurse as often as she wants to. The breast she favors will meet the demand. -------------------- Judi

Yep, it sure will, but the chances of you being "lopsided" are a little better because that one breast will provide the milk
What I did was always make sure that I offered the least favorite side first, when they were the most hungry so at least they relieved some pressure. Eventually, though, although they always had a favorite side, we managed to work it out that they ate on both sides about the same amount. And, with Anders, it is funny - if I am holding him, he favors my left side, but if we are laying down, he favors the right (and this has only been for the last 6 mos or so) So, my guess is that it will all work out in the end! -------------------- Beverly, DH Eje, and mom to PJ, 20 Leah, 18 Sara, 16 Anders, 5

Teigen doesn't care at all. He loves them both. As a matter of fact, it's almost daily he will smoosh his face between both breasts and squeeze them against his face. I love it.

Thanks for the replies. Today I had to pump the right side because she only nursed on that side once the entire day and it was getting a little uncomfortable.

It's a daddy bottle!! OR a sippy cup
That was what I used to do to them - freeze and store so my BM wouldn't go to waste. -------------------- Beverly, DH Eje, and mom to PJ, 20 Leah, 18 Sara, 16 Anders, 5

I make her cereal with BM anyways. I usually get about 7 ounces when I pump one side so that covers cereal in am and pm for 2 days.
