What I am wondering is..Is it normal for Kassidy to get strangled when eating? It has been 6 years since I breastfed Kyleigh and can't remember if it is normal..It seems worse when she is feeding from the right side..I mean she has a cold, sad.gif so I didn't know if that was making it worse or if it is just normal anyway..BTW,she is doing very well with it and gaining weight..she had gained 2 1/2 oz in a day.. blink.gif and is up past her birth weight of 7 lbs 11 oz.. thumb.gif she weighed 7 lbs 13 oz yesterday..LOL..so she gained 6 1/2 oz in 5 days..

By strangled ... what do you mean ...

If you have a strong let down then the baby could seemingly choke. I had that issue with Isaia. I had an oversupply and my let downs were always really strong.

I forgot to mention ways to lessen it ...

Laydown to nurse her, like on your side, or let her lay ontop of your chest and nurse, (i know it weird but it helps).

Waylon did that due to forceful letdown. I would just let him start nursing, then he'd usually back off when he started getting choked, so I'd take that opportunity to let it squirt into a burp cloth until it let up some. I also let him lay on my chest to eat sometimes, too; it really does help.
I hope she gets to feeling better soon -- I hate to see babies sick! sad.gif sad.gif wub.gif wub.gif

I agree that it sounds like you just have a fast let down, and trying different positions really does help. WTG on her weight gain! thumb.gif

It's probably a combination of the letdown and the cold. Your right side must have more of a forceful letdown. I agree with the others, I would try different positions and if that does't work then just release her and squirt some off when feel your letdown.
