I was just wondering if anyone else was into Raw foods? We have made a decision to buy more organics and do more Raw foods.
My first Raw food I tried making tonight actually is Brownies. I am going to a natural mom's get together tomorow and wanted to try them out for it. So I got enough stuff to make two batches They are in the fridge now "baking" . I will update with a photo and let you know how they taste!! -------------------- Jessica

THEY ARE DELICIOUS!!!
Marie - Raw food is unprocessed normally food found in the natural state that you would find it in nature. It cannot be cooked at temperatures of more than 110 I belive or it is no longer considered RAW. It is just a way to keep all the nutrients that are in the food, in the food! My brownies were made from : Raw Carob powder Raw Honey Raw Almond butter Raw Dates I will have to post a photo later, I am super busy today so maybe when the kids nap. They were FANTASTIC THOUGH. They tasted like brownies ... but like earthy brownies .. not duncan hines!! -------------------- Jessica

Growing our own doesn't necessarily make it raw food. What makes something raw food is that is it uncooked, essentially it is RAW. The most common form of RAW foods are fruits and veggies, most people don't have to cook an apple before they eat it. However a lot of times you think you have to cook brownies ... but you don't or cupcakes, there are lots of Raw food dishes
RawFoodLife.COM has recieps and lots of information. -------------------- Jessica

I knew that growing them didnt count I was joking. Its just when I think of raw foods the first thing that comes to mind is raw fish or raw meat and that just grosses me out. As for the brownies and cupcakes thats something interesting. And thanks for the link I am going to check it out. |

Hmm, we stick to the common raw foods, but that's it.
My sitter does a RAW diet with her dogs - they eat raw meat instead of cooked meat or dog food. -------------------- ~*Karen*~

please post the recipe, I would love to try this.
I have bought quite a bit of raw foods as this is a big thing here in Miami but I don't think I could ever go completely raw as I do crave hot foods sometimes. I have a book called "Eating in the Raw" by Carol Alt but have not really tried any of the recipes, though. Were they complicated to make? Sh*t, you've got 2 toddlers and one on the way and you managed to find the time and energy to make them and yet I am "too busy"...now I feel ashamed and embarrassed.... -------------------- |

Here it is :
1 cup of dates : chop and then place in the food processor ... process to your liking ... it should make kind of like a paste 1 1/4 cups : Carob powder 1 1/4 cups : Almond Butter 1/3 cup : honey Mix well and press into a 9x9 pan and put in the fridge for 1 hour. THEN ENJOY -------------------- Jessica

I looked into it, but it seems way to difficult for me right now. I think if I can manage to go vegetarian it will be a big enough step.
