Toys R Us is now taking them off the shelves due to the "date rape drug" ingredient scare.
TORONTO—Following yesterday’s announcement that original Aqua Dots manufacturer Moose Enterprises was recalling its line in Australia, Spin Master is requesting retailers in North America remove Aqua Dots products from their shelves. This week Moose recalled its version of Aqua Dots—marketed in Australia as Bindeez—because of concerns over the chemical reaction that takes place if the craft kits’ beads are swallowed. According to the company, tests showed that some batches of beads were not produced according to its approved formula. Spin Master said in a statement today that it is “working diligently to identify any shipments that could potentially be included in a recall by the CPSC and Canadian officials.” The company has not announced the number of Aqua Dots kits and refill sets affected by the recall. Aqua Dots are sold in the U.S. at traditional retailers and by Spin Master’s Spin Direct division through direct response television campaigns and other direct-to-consumer means. -------------------- The Administrators of the Parenting Club take violators of the Terms of Service Agreement seriously. Thanks Amy for alerting us to this story and following it. I was just reading more about this today, the CPSC recalled the Aqua Dots because two kids went into a comatose state after swalling the beads.
Here's the link about it. http://www.cpsc.gov:80/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml08/08074.html -------------------- |

I saw this on the news last night. This is way more scary than the lead based recalls to me... I don't want my kids to be exposed to lead if I can help it, but lead is everywhere. But going into a coma from swallowing some little beads is frightening!
I hope they can figure out a way to make them safe and put them back out on the market again.. they did look cool. -------------------- |
