I know I shouldn't worry, but I just got back from the OB to have the lump I found checked out. My doctor wants to order a mammo and u/s, so I just called to schedule that and the earliest they have is Feb. 11th! unsure.gif I hate that they can't do it in the office. And god, why do they make you wait so long to get in? Anyhow, my mind is all over the place right now. The doctor said that since the mass "rolls" and it's tender to the touch, those are good signs that it's nothing, possibly just a clogged milk duct, but she wasn't positive it was nothing. My grandmother had breast cancer and it skips generations, so of course that makes me worried. Anyhow, I know I shouldn't worry...But you know, it's never fun, as some of you know, to find a lump and have to get a mammo. They said to call everyday for cancellations, so hopefully I can get in earlier. I'll KYP, but I could use some pt's. sad.gif

Do you drink a lot of caffeine?! You just recently weaned Wesley so it could have something to do with that, it could be so many non-threatening things I wouldn't worry!!!!

Hang in there but I imagine that if your OB thought it was possibly something serious they would have gotten you in to the Mammo ASAP.....hang in there - its probably nothing but a result of the weaning - KUP hug.gif hug.gif

sorry to but in here but caffee can produce lumps like you described. I had a friend who used to get them all the time, well still does when she drinks caffee. it was very scary the first few times she went in for mammo's and u/s cause they were unsure of what was causing them, it was not till they finally biopsied it they knew for sure.

hug.gif you did just recently ween so it coudl be that. I hoep you get in sooner for your own peace of mind.

Drinking caffeine causes lumps/cysts, the movable kind... I took care of a lady today with breast CA, when theres a tumor, you can tell.... Its soooo HARD and doesn't move.

Hmm, didn't know that. wink.gif Good to know. Thanks for everyone's well wishes you guys! What would I do without you? hug.gif I haven't told my family yet, because I hate to worry them for nothing, so its nice to get it off my chest here since I can't call my mom. Its the waiting that's the worst! growl.gif

Edited: because I quoted the wrong reply...meant to quote mybabemaddie who told me about the caffeine causing lumps. Thanks for the info!

I agree that caffeine will cause lumpy breast tissue, which can make you feel pea size lumps and also just weening is probably part of it. hug.gif

Also it is TOTALLY normal for them to order mammo and u/s of the area in question.

Did your doctor make the appt for you for the mammo and u/s?

If not I would call them and have them get you in sooner. Normally with any type of lump they will see you within 1-2 days.

Hang in there! smile.gif

My doctor faxed in an "order" for the mammo and u/s. So she didn't make the appt for me, but she faxed them the info. Then I had to call the number she provided and make the appt myself. rolleyes.gif I wish it were 1-2 days.

I know how scary this can be - I had a similar sounding lump when I was about 20. It was nothing - just a cyst. They sent me to a surgeron (sp?) and he asperated it in his office (drained it with a needle and syringe). I fainted but other than that it was no big deal.

I hope yours is no big deal too - we'll be praying for you!!!! hug.gif

Rae- seconding the caffeine theory. Try cutting it out and see what happens. The pill is another common culprit.
The u/s is standard procedure whenever a lump is "felt".I had one when I discovered mine, which wound up just being normal breast tissue. Apparently, I was pressing down too deeply when doing a self-exam, and b/c I have such small breasts, I could feel everything, even stuff that's supposed to be there. Don't worry, Rae, which is a silly thing to say, I know. Worrying is like breathing to people with anxiety issues, but believe me, the chances of it being anything scary are really pretty remote. hug.gif KUP.
