I went to see my GI doc yesterday about ulcer

Diamond Member Group: Members Posts: 27,917 Member No.: 236 Joined: 4-August 03	and I have to be on meds for 6 more weeks and hopefully that's it. He changed my prescription from Prilosec to something else (can't remember the name) because I didn't like the side effects I was having from it. I had gas constantly and diarrhea too. Sorry tmi. I'm on day 2 of this new med and not near as much issues, but still having some. So I take this new med for 6 weeks, then be off the meds for 6 weeks and then go back and see him. If I have no stomach issues then I'm free of the meds. The only thing is I have to agree to never take Motrin again because that is what caused my problems. He said if I wanted to take Motrin the rest of my life I'd have to take the stomach meds the rest of my life. I can totally feel your pain (literally) w/the stomach problems. I actually had to have surgery, and I'd say it was only about 80% effective (which is a lot better then 0%!!!) --------------------

If you don't mind me asking, what were you taking the motrin for? Will this new meds solve that problem as well? Keep us posted on how you are doing.

I was taking motrin a lot (too much) for migraines. My regular doctor put me on a preventive med for the migraine and a narcotic for the pain of it.
