Is it true that breast milk tastes different when AF arrives. I got it for the first time yesterday and Laila is soooo not interested. She is on formula too, but now even less interested in BF'ing.

I never breast feed so I am not sure. But good question.

I don't know the answer, but I don't think it affected Ashley. I would tend to think it has more to do with the formula, but I don't know the answer to that either. Ashley never had formula. Sorry, I guess I am no help.

that is what I would think too I can't find anything about taste changes

I've always heard that af can cause changes in the taste. Here's something I found-

"Some babies may detect a slight change in the taste of the milk just before a period, again, due to hormonal changes. These same babies may nurse less often or less enthusiastically during this time as a result." http://www.breastfeed-essentials.com/menstruation.html

I never had AF during BF, but I have read what Jennifer posted. Hormone changes can affect the taste.

I can tell you for instance that my mom says I was a very enthusiastic nurser, to this day she reminds me of how eager I was to nurse. I'm from a third world country where formula was nearly impossible to come by so nursing was the only option.
Anyway, when I was nine months old, she got her period and I refused to nurse after that...literally went from hot to cold.
So yeah, there probably is something to it.
