I was just wondering... at what age did you enroll your child in activites like this?
I was thinking 2 or 3?
Does this sound right or too young?

We looked into it when my oldest was 3, and no gymnastics or dance places in the area would take kids under 5...we live in a small town though so there aren't even a lot of places to choose from.

Ashley started dance at 3 and gymnastics at 4. I was very particular about where I sent her for gymnastics because I wanted to make sure it was a place that would spot her well.

Corey started at the Little Gym at age 3, and it was all very low pressure and geared towards younger kids. She outgrew it within a year, and we moved to a more traditional gym, where she was selected for the competitive team at age 5. They practice 3 hours a day, 3 days a week, and it's serious. It all sounded like too much to me, but she LOVES it and never wants to leave. It depends on the kid. She is the youngest and smallest in the gym, but not by much.
One other thing you should know- at the upper levels, gymnastics has a higher incidence of injuries than varsity football. And judging by all the taped ankles and braces I see in the gym, I believe it.
