Ummmmm...WHAT!!!!!

This is crazy. I would be soooo mad. I saw it on the news and they said there were 10 dispatchers working at the time and that this lady was disabled and couldnt get out of the house on her own. And to top things off they didnt fire anyone....

PHILADELPHIA, PA -- Investigators in one town want answers after dispatchers put a disabled woman on hold when she called 911.

The woman later died in a fire at her home.

Uh oh......I hate when 911 puts people on hold..

I have never been asked to hold. Even when I call the non emergency # to report my repo's they have never not once asked me to hold.

That is terrible!

I am a dispatcher and although I am not a 911 dispatcher (I dispatch for Highway Patrol) it is amazing how fast 2 min goes when you are getting your butt kicked, but from what I can see it was not handled properly at all.

For example, a couple weeks ago I had a complaint about me because it took 1 1/2 min to get the captain on the phone when I had a pursuit. The trooper that was in pursuit complained about me and when my supervisor listened to the tape he saw I did nothing wrong because I was incredibly busy and I was by myself. I never would have imagined it took that long, it felt like it was just a few seconds.

thats awful. someone should be held responsible for that. the family has a nice law suit there.
