I just got the info for Alec's orientation and it sounds like a great idea. Parents go one night to meet the staff. Then, on his first day, they divide the class in half. Half of the students go to school for an hour with their parents. We stay there for the full hour, get to meet other parents, and help the kids meet each other. I think that's a great orientation. Much better than everyone come between the hours of x-y and meet in an unorganized manner (which is what most around here seem to be). I'm so excited and sad at the same time.

Sounds like a great way to have an orientation. Let us know how it goes.
We go next week to meet with Ashley's teacher. It's just the parents and the student (no one else) and the teacher spends about 1/2 hour with the teacher getting to know the student. Then, the following week, we go for an orientation where the students go with the teacher and have a mini-day (about 90 minutes long) and the parents go for an orientation to go over all the school business. There's only 12 kids in Ashley's class so I don't think she will be too overwhelmed. -------------------- |
