Today Jakob say the new allergist. He had skin testing done that he hadnt had in one and half years. He tested only barely for peanut, chicken and pork. and was completely negative for peas and fish.
He has a severe deathly egg allergy though. It seems to be getting worse not better.
I was feeling so good that the peanut allergy seems to be going away, but now have to worry about the egg.

He had some RAST testing done today and we get those results in two weeks, that is the definative answer for what he is allergic to now. But he has definately out grow a lot of food allergies.

He is starting zantac for the reflux, that they think is causing his stomach pain daily, but we still cant see the rheumatoidologist until april 23. I talked about the high ANA with this dr and she said that its still possible that he doesnt have an auto immune disease, they will run more tests.

I feel pretty good about where we are so far.

That is a great update! I'm sorry about the egg allergy being so severe, but it must be at least a little comforting to not have to worry about the others as much. KUP as you hear more hug.gif hug.gif

Sounds like a pretty good update. I'm sorry about the egg allergy, as I know its in everything. rolleyes.gif I guess I didn't know he had an egg allergy, or is this new?

So did they say when you can bring back nuts, chicken and pork to see how he reacts to them? The chicken and pork is a new one for me. He seems to have some rare food allergies like Megan. happy.gif

Jake always tested positive to egg for both rast and the skin test, but in the past two years it has gotten worse, to the point that when they do the skin test, they take it off him after the wheel reaches a certain point. Its really bad.
I dont know if he will outgrow that one, but she said you cant be sure.
she also told me which is the second dr now, that the patch testing is not a reliable test. (thats the one I couldnt remember what it was called when we talked last)
anyway, they only wanted to test him for the food he is eating, which isnt much, but to see if they might be reactive. she told me that most likely the food dont cause the stomach pain but reflux.
so he usually eats, bananas, bologna, (horrible I know but his only source of meat. i think that is due to the food texture as well as allergies now. He is allergic to all meat. but we didnt retest the beef since he isnt eating it. the chicken and pork were always allergies but he can tolerate a little bit at a time.
she told us not to introduce nuts at this time. I am excited that we might be able to in the near future as a source of protein..thats if Jake will try it.
I was very encouraged by the dr and the tests. she said even if a child is testing positive to a food, but is eating it when they have such a limited diet like Jake they dont tell you to take it away.
we have a f/u in 4 months.

Well that's great, Stacy. thumb.gif

I know with Megan we are starting to wonder if it's the food allergies or the lactase deficiency that caused all her problems. We saw some results after taking allergens out of her diet, but seeing even more improvement with treating the LI. We hope to mid-summer start re-entering some of the food allergens into her diet and testing to see if they make a difference or not. If they don't, we'll keep them out of her diet.
