We had our first Girl Scout meeting of the year yesterday. It's the first time I had seen some of the girls since last fall as some of them go to different schools and we don't see them over the summer.  I was surprised to see how much the girls had changed and many of them needed training bras as well.  They are all fourth graders.  Granted, Ashley is a year younger than most of the others in fourth grade, but wow, what a difference a year has made.  I wish I could say it made me feel better, but I think it just made me realize that I need to start talking to Ashley in more detail about some of these changes that will be happening to her soon.

I got Kylie a book that she is reading now that explains the changes she'll be going through. We've also talked about them, but not in as much detail. She's too antsy to sit and listen so I gave her the book. laugh.gif

I have the American Girl book. I have had it for about a year, but kept putting it off -- if I deny it will happen maybe it won't happen, right? I plan to read through it with Ashley. We have talked about a few of the changes, with the exception of menstrual cycles. I suppose I should start talking about it now, and this just confirms it.

Sorry this is happening so soon, but I am kinda relieved to hear you did organic and it's still happening. I tried to go organic, but never followed thru. So I can cross that mommy guilt off seeing it didn't make that much of a difference with Kylie.

And my dd is on the thin side and will soon need a training bra. She can get away with shirts that are patterned, but the solid tees from Justice are hugging and..well...you can see little bumps. blush.gif

Yeah, that's the book I got Kylie. She got completely grossed out on how to put in a tampon. I was kinda grossed out about that one too. I thought the book was just the right amount of detail in it, except that....that was a bit too much. laugh.gif

Oh no Karen! I can't imagine having to deal with that so soon! noooooo.gif I'm living in dread of the day I have to talk to Allie about periods and sex. tongue.gif I didn't get my period until I was 14 1/2. I started wearing a bra around the same time, but I think I'd been kind of needing one for awhile. I entered that phase of my life kicking and screaming. rolling_smile.gif

I'm glad she's not freaked out about it though... your not making a big deal out of it helps I'm sure. My mom acted like it was a huge deal and we needed to have some kind of celebration, but I was mortified. blink.gif blush.gif
