My goal for nursing Allie was one year - well she's one now and I want to be done. tongue.gif I've been making an effort to not nurse her as much during the day - like instead of nursing her just because it's been 3 or 4 hours and that's when she normally likes to nurse, I've been waiting until she gets fussy and nothing else is helping. So in just the last few days we've gone from about 5 times during the day plus at least 3 times at night, to 2 or 3 times a day and still about 3 times at night. rolleyes.gif Although last night she only woke up and ate once, which was SO nice! Maybe as she gets used to nursing less during the day she'll actually start sleeping through the night. snooze.gif thumb.gif

I really was expecting this to be a whole lot easier. Weaning Andrew was a breeze... actually it was a big effort just to KEEP him nursing until he was one! He had pretty much lost interest by the time he was 11 months and just nursed once a day for the last month. I was just expecting Alison to be the same way. rolleyes.gif

hug.gif You've done a great job Sara!! Congratulations on making it to a year! I'd just follow the "don't offer, don't refuse" method. And if possible, try distracting her if she'll allow it, & try to get DH to help.

thumb.gif Good luck!

Yep, you're doing the perfect thing with "don't offer, don't refuse." Try avoiding the regular nursing spots for a while - I know every time the girls would see me on the couch it was their cue to nurse. Also, when I walked in the door from work - so I'd try to make sure they were otherwise occupied at that time. Good luck!

I hadn't thought about it, but I guess that is what I've been doing. happy.gif I'm just going to have to resign myself to this maybe taking awhile. I'm really just eager for her to be sleeping through the night. I hoped that she would wake up less again last night, but she woke to nurse 4 times! wacko.gif

As long as she's weaned by October - I'm going to be in my friend's wedding in Kansas City and we're thinking of leaving the kids behind. tongue.gif
