I'm interested, too. Are more expensive vacuum really better than cheaper?

Here's my assessment, sometimes relative to my other vacuum which is a Eureka The Boss Smartvac.
Pros: -Very light! -very long cord - it goes half way across my 1500 sq ft house! -works well on tile and bare floors -works well on short carpet -I can actually run the vacuum over my throw rugs to clean them - my other vacuum sucks them up - although it did suck up the edge a couple of times but still it pulled a lot of crud from them (this is a mystery to me because I would think it would have less suction than the other vacuum in order to not suck up the rugs, but I guess it is just a different mechanism to clean or something) Cons, or maybe not, depending: -No attachments are available as far as I can tell and cleaning stairs and spider webs will not be easy!! -no height adjustment - but maybe it just doesn't need it -it doesn't tip up to go to a higher rug without picking it up becuase it has no locking mechanism on the handle - it just folds all the way to the floor and then the front can't be tipped, if that makes sense. But then it folds so flat to the floor that it is easy to run under stuff -I am not convinced it did a better job on my carpet that is a little deeper but it did seem to do a great job on the short pile stuff. The deeper carpet is light colored so dirt doesn't show so much and I was just listening to hear how much I could, but not everything makes a sound when the vacuum sucks it up. And that carpet gets indents in it from the furniture and it did not seem to fluff those up as well as my other vacuum. Overall I think it's pretty good but if it is truly $500 retail it would be a tough buy for me primarily because I use my attachments a lot. If I had a hose and a few pieces to attach to this one my Eureka would be a dust collector (hee hee, that's a good pun)! However, for just floor cleaning, and especially if one has a tough time with the heavy vacuums, it may be well worth the price as it is so very light and does work well on the floors. I will likely use it for the floors because it is so easy to push around but will have to haul out the big guns for the stairs, edges, and anything else where attachments are more useful. That is a real bummer because I do have a tough time balancing my heavy vacuum on the stairs while using the hose to clean it off, but oh well! And I will take in in our camper when we go because it is so light and relatively small. Thanks again to PC and Oreck for the gift. I do apreciate it very much! I forgot to mention that it isn't too noisy either, at least relative to my Eureka.
