We are trying to finish filling up her reading log so she can participate in the icecream family at pre-K. Today, we had 3 Bob Books for her to read and she did well with the first two, after I got her to stop fidgeting. Then she picked up a new book (Peg and Ted, about a hen and a pig) and she read the entire thing upside down! I sat with her and told her that she needed to turn it around or she'd never finish but she said "mom, I can read just fine upside down". I was skeptical but sure enough, she read right to left and only got confused with one p thinking it was a b.
I can read upsided down, but I've been reading for decades. Is this weird or is it just one of those crazy kid things that I didn't know about? -------------------- Cary

That's talent, Cary. Corey watches tv upside down, and I do mean, entire shows, but she hasn't taken to reading that way yet.

WOW... I'd be shocked too. I don't know if Ashley could read upside down or not.. I don't think she's ever tried. Unlike you, I think I WOULD have trouble reading upside down. LOL. K sure is a smarty!!!
P.S. We love the Bob books too! I haven't found another series that teaches phonics rules and sight words as well as the Bob Books! -------------------- |

That's cool. I wonder if kids can do that stuff easier b/c they don't realize it's suppose to be hard. KWIM?

Good for her! If she starts to drive you crazy you can sell her to the circus.
I don't think I've ever tried to read upside down....it kinda gives me a headache. |

She'll be doing scrambles and crossword puzzles before you know it. And writing something backwards so she can hold it up to the mirror to read it. Funny girl!

Very impressive!! I know when I was in marketing, they say to read copy upside down to look for errors. I suppose typos stand out better when looking at it upside down. I couldn't do it though. She is a smart kid!

Quite impressive. My mother once thought I was a prodigy because I can read upside down. Turns out it is a talent that people can enhance. Now if I can just find my darned glasses.........
