Congrats, a pound is great. There is a poem about losing "Only 1 pound" that we have a my meetings. I should try and find and post it. CONGRATS AGAIN. cheerleader.gif elephant.gif

Great job DH for getting you something you actually asked for. Sometimes they surprise us.

Ok so after reading a good bit of my book this is what I decided to do....it says for the first 4 weeks not to cut calories really but just increase activity, stay hydrated and stop eating 2 hrs before bedtime. As hard as it is not to cut calories now, he swears by not doing so and becoming more active it'll jump start your metabolism so that when I do cut calories in Phase Two it'll be easier and work better. SO while I'll still make better choices I will use these 4 weeks to get rid of the bad food in my house....I'm not going to be the only one to eat it but I'm just cooking it to get it out. So I'm not going to beat myself up over one bad food....but I also won't be eating it all in one day!

Ok so that being said last night for dinner I had tuna casserole (2 cans of tuna for extra protein, with regular elbow macaroni...but it's all cooked now!) and some left over sweet potato wedges. Then I had an apple for snack and a granola bar and I stopped eating at 7:30 and drank 2 bottles of water, at least.

This morning I made pancakes (finished the box of mix!!) and I had 2 and a square of egg casserole (actually I didn't finish the sq. because it had way too much cheese and it didn't taste good to me - isn't that a good thing??) and one cup of coffee.

Sorry this was long! You guys this book is really good. It's really making me think about other things going on in my life, that are affecting my weight. It's aimed at people who have tried diets and failed every time. This is not really my case, I've just not eaten well or exercised much since 2001 when we got married. So I can't say that I've ever really tried any other diet (except Atkins once). I'm really having to look deep to find out why I'm overweight and I think I've discovered that I'm too busy making other people happy and just don't care enough about myself. I make and hold commitments and pride myself on that but I have yet to keep a commitment to myself! Plus my love of food doesn't help that! wink.gif It's a very eye opening book and it had me kinda upset yesterday but today I'm just going to plunge forward and make the changes I need and put myself first!

I also bought a pedometer yesterday. From 2-8 last night I took just over 2000 steps. But I have a question about that. The book says 3500-6000 per day but DH said, you didn't do anything you just walked around the house...well doesn't that count? A step is a step right, it's activity right? So what do you think and if you read all of this I LOVE YOU!

That's so great Naomi!!!! thumb.gif

I think your eating sounded fine, actually. happy.gif I know those books where you have to delve deep into your soul are pretty upsetting. They upset me, too. But once you recognize it and admit it, you can move forward.

I'm so proud of you!!! Baby steps.

Sounds like you have a great plan going, Naomi. thumb.gif The plan is the first step and you've taken it.

As far as the pedometer and moving around, any sort of movement is considered good. I was always told to make sure you take 10,000 steps a day, so I would put it on when I got up and just go about my routine all day long. At the end of my work day I'd see how close I was to it, and if I wasn't to 10K then I'd do a workout that night. Some nights I did one anyways, lol. I don't wear mine anymore because I sorta know what kind of activity I have to get in during the day (how much walking around at work i need to do, etc).

Keep it up. thumb.gif

Awesome job and a step is a step. Sometimes we don't realize how many we are taking in a day. You should track how many you are taking and then try and increase it. Your body does get used to your daily steps and I know at WW they have a pedometer that will not give you earned activity points til you go above the average daily steps walked. So say you walk on average 3000-5000 and you start wearing a pedometer and counting your setps as activity then you wouldn't start counting til after you 5000 because in order for your body to burn more calories it needs work above the daily regieme you do. Sorry if this confuses you. You are making great steps toward a better lifestyle. thumb.gif

Terri, that makes complete sense...and I think I will do that tomorrow! I know that as of 3pm yesterday I had walked just over 4000 steps and I never left the house! I took it off to go out for the night so I'm sure I walked about 6000 and that is not going above and beyond what my body is used to so maybe I should strive for like 8000?

Today's food, if I can remember:
Breakfast
smoothie (slim fast, strawberries and a banana)

snack
slim fast muffin bar

lunch
flat out wrap (ham and cheese w/lettuce and tomato)
tortilla chips

snack
yogurt
coffee

dinner
baked chicken, squash and roasted potatoes

No soda today (even though I drink diet) and I didn't even miss it. I'm really beginning to like the taste of water....NEVER thought I'd say that!

We ate at 5:00 and I didn't even think about food again until I thought I should have a snack before my 2 hr. cutoff, then I looked at the clock and it was 9:00! But I'm really not hungry...it was all psychological!

Thank you!! And the great thing is that I didn't even feel deprived or like I was on a diet at any time yesterday! Maybe it's my new mindset?

wub.gif I love you guys!!! Thank you!!!

I'm here Aim, had a play date this morning.

Breakfast:
1/2 bagel w/pb
1/2 banana

snack:
yogurt

lunch:
ham and cheese on whole grain; few tortilla chips

I'm feeling really good about this lately y'all! I think the first week was probably just a big adjustment. We had friends come over last night after I posted and they brought a king cake...well I had already had those 2 oatmeal cookies and it was close to my cut off time so they all had a piece and I DIDN'T!!!!! I was SO proud of myself. I almost did when they left but it was 9:00 and I told myself that I had done so well so far w/not eating past 8 and I wasn't going to quit now!!
