We made tacos today with ground turkey instead of beef... yum yum. In the past, we tried to substitute beef with turkey for other things, like spaghettie sauces..yuck yuck. It didn't taste good in the spaghetti. SO, just wondering what other recipes do you use ground turkey in?

I've tried it once and didn't like it for some reason, thought it had a funny texture, but maybe it was just the kind I got I dunno.
I'd try it with meatload, meatballs, hamburgars, anything you would cook ground beef with. -------------------- |

I don't use it often because for some reason it doesn't seem to have much flavor to me, but I do use it in a zucchini and tomato casserole.

we use it for eveything because I don't eat beef. I make turkey burgers, meatloaf, meatballs, chili, enchiliadas, anthing that normally calls for ground beef

We use it in pretty much anything... but I've noticed thta it doesn't taste the same at all. What we usually do, is use half ground turkey and half ground beef... doesn't change the "original" taste of the dish all that much, but it's a littl ehalthier.

I just used it in a soup recipe. It was very good and even DH loved it-a die hard beef fan.
I've also used it in spaghetti sauce and it was yuck. I love it in tacos. I eat turkey bacon and turkey sausage as well. |

1 lb lean ground beef or ground turkey
1/2 c chopped onion (I add minced garlic too) 1/2 tsp salt 1/8 tsp pepper 3/4 c uncooked rice 1 c water 2 c zucchini (about one good sized one), sliced about 1/4 inch slices 1 large tomato chopped 1 can or box tomato basil soup (like Progressive or Campbells select, not the kind you add water to) 2 c shredded mozerella cheese Heat oven to 375, spray 13x9 baking dish. In skillet, cook meat and onion over med-high heat until thoroughly cooked, stirring frequently. Drain, sprinkle with salt and pepper. In baking dish combine rice and water, stir well. Layer meat, zucchini and tomato. Pour soup over top. Cover tightly with foil. Bake 40 minutes, uncover, sprinkle cheese over top and return to oven 10 minutes or until edges are bubbly. |

MMM., I think I have everything here but the soup to make it. I can pick that up when I go tonight. Can the rice be instant or should I pick up the regular rice? -------------------- |

In hamburger helper, burgers are okay they get dry so you have to watch you don't over cook them. I didn't like spaghetti either, but buffalo is good. Pricy but good.

I make what's called "white chili". Ground turkey (I usually use dark meat because the fat is what makes it taste good and the texture when cooked is less rubbery), and those white northern beans instead of red beans. You can also add garbanzos. Chop up some chili peppers, add onion, garlic and corn. The only dry spice I add is a good teaspoon to tablespoon of Cumin. Diced tomatos add some red, but otherwise it's white chili. The yummiest way to eat it is over white rice with a dollop of sour cream. I make a separate, little batch for Daniel without the hot pepper and cumin. You can always add chicken broth for extra flavor and liquid if needed.
