I'm not sure when I should let my daughter who is 14 start to date. her whole high school is dating, but i won't let her. She hasn't brought up the whole dating thing in a while. I hope that doesn't mean that she is dating. Does it???? How do you guys feel about the dating thing and the right age? I just don't want her to hate me for not letting her date at her age.

I don't have a daughter but if I had to think hard about it I'd have to say 16. But, that isn't set in stone since I don't have a teenager. Hubby would tell you when she's out of the house! I think every child is different though. If she is mature and responsible then maybe it will be ok? Perhaps just only group outings for now until she's older.

I dont have a dgt either, or a teenager for that matter, but if I did, the last thing I would worry about is if she hated me. I know we all want our kids to think we are the coolest parents, but sometimes you have to be the tough guy to keep them safe. My mother let us "date" when we were 16, but she drove us to the movie or skating rink or what ever we did, and picked us up. We didnt go in the boys car.
and never to their houses. no i take that back , we did if the mother of the boy picked us up. I can tell you that its a good thing my mom did that, because my sister and I were sneaks, and I think that things in my life might have turned out differently. not in a good way. I wasnt fond of my mom then, but now we talk daily, and she is a good mom. i know she was strict but it gave me good morals, and it taught me how to raise my kids. My Granny made me wait till I was 16. And then and only then I had to be home by curfew NO EXCUSES what-so-ever. If I was as much as a minute late. There was no more dating for like 6 months. And she meant business.

No offense, but yes it probably means she is. I know I was at her age, and I wasn't allowed to. Not only was I dating in secret, but my friends were in on it, and would lie for me if and when my mother would check on me.
I'd say better to be on the safe side, and have a heart to heart with her about the dangers of certain things... I hope I didn't offend you, or insult your daughter by saying that yes, she's probably dating... it's a natural human thing to want to do right around that age. I'm only 24, so I was there not too long ago. -------------------- The richest people don't have the best of everything, they make the best of everything.
