I took this from a "Kids with Food Allergies" e-newsletter that I receive. I found the article interesting, since I often feel that Wil's nut allergy could have been prevented if I had BF him longer...Or I sometimes believe I may have ate too many nut products while nursing and it passed through my milk. I want to blame both sides. That's JMO on the subject of course, but this article makes me think otherwise.

Check it out...

I dont think you can blame allergies on just one thing or another. I think there is a mix of things that can cause it.

Somehting I have always wonder is does what we eat while PG effect the child in what they like or dont like, what they can tolerate and not, or allergic to. For example I drank nearly 1 gallon a day of milk while in my last month of PG and this girl LOVES milk and dairy products. I just wonder if it had anything to do with it or if it could cause the oppiste effect......so many wonders so little time

That is interesting! Daniel was BF until age 3, with me on a restricted diet from the first year on, and still has multiple food allergies. He's been asthma-free for a year, though, and other than the potential reaction to a food, he rarely gets seriously ill from viruses.

That is interesting. Josh had severe exema when he was a baby and i was sent to a periatrician/ allergist and he told me that because Josh had such a severe case that he was more prone to get nut allergies and asthma. So he told me not to feed Josh eggs until 18 months or fish and not to give him ANY nut product until 3 years of age. I breastfed as well till 8 months and he said that would do nothing for the allergies.

Anyway Josh doesn't seem to be allergic to anythign and i follwed the do not feed certain items and it worked for me. But who knows maybe he was never going to be allergic hard to say.
