I am now 12 weeks with my 3rd child and 3 days ago I started experiencing slight spotting when I went to the loo, in my discharge when I wiped. It stopped after an hour and the following day I had my 1st scan booked. I told the sonographer but she didn't say anything, and then we could see that our baby was fine and we saw the heartbeat too. Then today, just 2 days after the scan, I had the spotting in my discharge again when I went to the loo. It only comes out onto the tissue, never in my underwear. I have no cramping or pains, but I need to know what could be causing this. Has anyone else ever had this at this stage in pregnancy, and if so, what caused it? Also, does anyone know what could be possible causes of spotting at this stage? Thank you in advance for any help you can give me. I am going out of my mind with worry here.

I would call your doc about it, but when I was PG with the boy I had really light spotting like that a few times. everything was fine, I don't know what caused it. I would call to ease your mind tho.

I agree that you should mention it to your doc, atleast for your own peace of mind. I've know quite a few people who spotted like that throughout their pregnancy and it turned out to be nothing significant.

I had period like spotting when I was 13 weeks pregnant and I thought I was having a miscarriage. But I wasn't and I found out that the spotting was because I had a bicornate uterus...but you would already know if you had a bicornate uterus.

I had some spotting early in preg also, but it was because I was working tooo hard. Doc put me on disability, and the problem stopped. Talk to your doctor.

We see this alot with patients but I would definetly call your Dr. It could be from small collection of blood that resolves on its own. Are you having intercourse?? Does this occur after that? It very well could be cause for this. Also make sure that you don't think you have bacterial or yeast infection that can cause this too, so like discharge with color (yellow/green) itching, redness. But I agree with others it can sometimes be nothing. Please call.
