My mom has a thyroid problem. I should find out exactly which one it is. Would be great to not have to take drugs for it, although the surgery sounded a bit scary. It's amazing what doctors can do these days!!

I wouldn't care about the surgery but to have this problem fixed would be great...........I am going to see my specialist and talk to him about this option.

OMG that is great news!!!

I have been taking pills for my hyperthyroid for awhile now and it is such a pain in the butt!!! I totally forgot to take my pill yesterday... rolleyes.gif running around after 2 kids all day my brain doesn't function properly rolling_smile.gif

I may have to look into that some more....I would definitely make the trip to Calgary for it (it's not that far from me anyway)!!! If you find out some more about it Jen, could you let me know!! Good thing I didn't let the doctor talk me into the radioactive treatment!

Thanks for the info, Jen!

Sorry Jen...I guess I didn't realize you had it. I hope the best for you. Hope your specialist says it's a go! Good luck!

Hmmmm... would have been nice to know about 6 year ago. I have mine completely removed 6 years ago after my 2nd child was born. I would be interested in hearing how anyone else does with it, if they were to go thru with the procedure.

Does anyone else here have Graves Disease?

I have Hypo thyroid and so do my 2 daughters. We both take pills daily for this problem. I wish there was a fix for it. It sucks to have to take meds everyday for the rest of your life.

Hi, I am hypothyroid too and wish there was a way to stimulate it without the drugs. I have gotten use to the pills but have a had a few slip up when my thyroid bottom out and I didn't realize it and started to forget my pills making me even more messed up. Don't do that any more.
