We went to the water park this morning and had a picnic lunch there. The water is just on a large cement circle and there's 5 various sizes of water fountains shooting water out.
I have told and TOLD the children NOT TO RUN , but DD fell and banged her head. I didn't see a bump and there's no bleeding. She wanted to go back in, and I let her, but we left for home half an hour later. Now we've been home for about an hour and I was cleaning up the kitchen. When I came into the living room, DD is laying on the couch - asleep. My Ummy Radar went off and I checked her immediately. She's still alive - phew!!! - but drowsy. She says her head hurts - I'd given her a Motrin earlier, bout 15 minutes before - she feels nauseous and she has a funny taste in her mouth. Both DH and I are in the massive minority of being able to "taste" pain. I guess DD has it, too. I checked her pupils and she's not dilating properly - she's quite slow - so I know she has a concussion. She's alert, although a little ticked now that I've shone a bright light into her eyes, lol. Should I bring her in? I know if she sleeps then to wake her up every hour on the hour. The actually concussion part doesn't really worry me, it's the fact that she can taste the pain. I don't remember being able to do that as a child, and DH isn't here to ask if he could. |

I hear that you shouldn't sleep for at least 3 hours after hitting ones head. I'd take her to the ER asap! Good luck KUP!!!!

Thanks, all
Of course, about an hour later, her pupils were dilating fine and she was back to her old self. She only has a little tenderness, but still no red marks, so we got the A-OK. It's like 1 in a million to have the ability to taste pain, and we now have 3 people in our family that can do it. Not sure about DS, but I'd rather not bean him with a rock or something to find out . I guess my family is an anomaly! |
