is the amount of time your babies take for one good feeding???
I know you are supposed to worry more about the swallowing etc, but I was curious. I am thinking 15-20 minutes is pretty good, but i don't know. What or how long do your babies take? -------------------- |

Abby's 15 months old now, and a good feeding for her is about 10-15 minutes, probably because she's so efficient now. She does get distracted easily though.
For a younger baby, 15-20 minutes sounds really good. I never paid much attention to the time, and have never put a time limit on a feeding. -------------------- ~*~Mollie~*~ Mom to Logan, Quentin, Ethan, Hannah, Kayla, & Abigail! |

Ok, so then her before bed feeding is quite a bit longer - like 40 minutes, would you say that is a waste then.........I don't know. During the day she is fairly quick but at night a bit slower and calmer..... -------------------- |

Kylie was a like a 30 to 45 minute nurser. No joke. Dh is sitting here saying "at least that". Then I'd get 45 minutes before the next feeding. sigh.
Megan was a very short nurser - 10 to 20 minutes maybe and she had a lot of trouble with nursing and wanting to stay on to get more. SHE needed more than her piggy sister did, too. -------------------- ~*Karen*~

She's probably winding down at night, so it's a lot of comfort nursing mixed in with regular nursing. If she is not actively swallowing, than she is just comfort nursing. If it bothers you, you can cut the session short after she's quit the active swallowing.

Ditto to both of you. Sounds like you're doing a great job Jen!! Which btw, my kids took about 20 minutes on each side. Quicker as they got older. But longer at nap and bedtime. Throw out the clock IMO, if it doesn't bother you. -------------------- Rae SAHM to Wil (4) and Wesley (2) ~ Wife to Richard 10/20/01
