They are inducing me on Friday and I am really nervous about it. I've always believed that babies will get here when they get good and ready. So I'm really interested in how your inductions turned out.

Thanks for your input - please leave comments if you have any info that might help!!!!

i 2 diff experiences... I choose bad labour but that was because of the pain more than anything.

I was induced with both jenna and jordan.

Jordan... it took almost 22 hours from start of induction to when i had him. I had to push for almost 3 hours before he decided to finally come. I had massive back labour and it was horrible.

Jenna... It took about 10 hours from strat of induction to when i had her. And it took 10 minutes to push her out. I had no back labour. My blood pressure was really acting crazy and i almost passed out a few times. Once i got the epidural for the pain my labour stopped and then right when I started to dialate again and made it to 10 cm the epidural wore off so i felt everything!

Why are you getting induced? Me it was because of pre-eclampsia.. both times

My dr always induced at 41 1/2 weeks because he does serial inductions - he'll start the pit and if things are not progressing as the day wears on then he'll shut the pit off and give you something to help you sleep and start the pit again the next day. The goal is to get the kid here before 42 weeks.

I am only 40 1/2 weeks but my dr is on call all weekend so he will be there to monitor me personally. But it makes me really nervous. Tripp came at 41 weeks on the dot. Maybe it just takes me 41 weeks to "cook" - ya know? I don't want to force the baby to do something it's not ready to do. My labor with Tripp was SO great - I just don't want to look back at this birth experience with regret. sad.gif

I was induced with my last child. There is a good and a bad to it. The good is that it was a very short labor experience for me. I went from no contractions to a baby in my arms in 2 hours. The bad is that I didnt have time to get the epi so it was a strong quick labor and delivery.

I think you will be just fine. It is scarey, but just think of the great gift at the end, that is what I am trying to do because I have never had a c-section so I am scared to death!

Can't wait to see you little bundle!!! hug.gif

Mine was a piece of cake. I had a doc. appt. earlier that day, he told me "meet me back here at the hospital at 7p.m." (i loved that I had time to go home make phone calls, shave, shower, etc..) I got to the hospital, they hooked me up and I labored throughout the night. A little bit of pain but nothing unbearable. I'm not sure if they increased the meds, or gave me something else the next morning, but it made labor come on stronger. I had an epi. so I still wasn't in any pain. I started pushing at 3:30 pm and had him at 4. I'm really hoping to be induced again, as long as it goes as smoothly again.

Good luck, I'm sure everything will be just fine. I'm so excited for you and can't wait to see the little cutie!! hug.gif

I think with mine they were upping the pitocin way too much. Seemed like hourly a nurse was comming in to increase the doseage. They made me labor to hard and to fast which made ds's heart rate drop too much and they decided on a csection. I think if I had spoken up and made them stop increasing the doseage and let me labor instead then I would have slowly dialated and been able to push him out.
I am still very angry and depressed over how ds's birth went, it almost brings me to tears just talking about it. I pray that any others I have to do wont be that bad. And I hope that yours goes off without a hitch. Good luck.

Wanted to add that most people have successful inductions and I am sure what I experienced was rare. Never the less you should read up on csections just in case KWIM?

I was induced with Jake. The actual induction was fine, it wasnt painful, but like someone else said the nurse kept coming and and uping and lowering my pitocin so that made labor longer and harder...it took 12 hours to get jake here...but it was a normal vag. birth, and it went ok.
it just seemed harder to me then the one that started by nature...
but it was fine, and really the process wasnt much different then naturally.
good luck

You guys have made me feel much better. I just want to have the baby vaginally - most of my friends who were induced ended up being sectioned - but they were also induced at around 38 weeks and weren't progressing at all.

I'll be starting at 2cm and 60% effaced so my body is changing - just much more slowly than he'd like.

Still nervous - but I appreciate you guys!!!

I was induced for both my 1st and 3rd. They started the pit for both at about 7am. DD#1 arrived at 1:15, DD#2 arrived at 12:15. So both were fast. Both were vag. I have back issues so I could not get the epidural but I did have time to get a shot of stadol with both, which wore off right before each delivery - actual pushing time for me was about 10-15 minutes if that... DH and my nurse almost had to deliver DD#2 themselves as the doctors just barely made it into the room.

Best of luck. I had no complications after either induction. KUP. Want to see pics ASAP.

I couldn't pick one, because both of my boys were induced and both were very different labors. However, I think the difference was more in the epidural than anything else. With Tanner, everything went perfectly and the epidural was awesome. With Aiden it was a little longer and I had the horrible shakes before I started pushing from the Pitocin. It felt like I was cold, but apprently it is a side affect from the Pitocin they give you. The epidural also wore off before I started pushing by at least 60%.

Both were delivered vaginally and both were around 12-13 hours of labor. Tanner was two weeks overdue and Aiden was one week overdue.

I was induced... it could have not of gone better. They started the potocin and broke my water at 9 am and by 2pm they had to call the doctor to deliver. I pushed for maybe 30 minutes and that was it. I felt so good after i walked to the recovery room... all the nurse were saying nobody would even know you just had a baby an hour ago! Good Luck. I am sure it will go well for you.

With Tripp they augmented by labor - so I've experience Pitocin, sort of. But I went into labor on my own. What really scares me is starting the labor with Pit - making my body do something it's not already doing on it's own.

I really am appreciating your experiences. We are considering opting out of the induction but so far you guys are swaying me to just roll with it.

I was induced twice. The first time was two hours of horrid pushing and tons of pain. The second time I was much more relaxed and had them break my water as soon as they started the induction. It went MUCH more quickly and she was out in the world within 7 hours, start to finish thumb.gif

My experience was WRETCHED! LOL ... I think that is mainly because it took from 7 am to 9:27 pm. It made for a very long day. I had a continuos epi, so that wasn't the issue. I just was miserable, I wanted the baby out, the contractions were the worst, even with the epi they were so strong I felt such pressure that it was painful!

I hope your induction goes well. I think it of course varies from person to person. I hope your experience is AMAZING !!

I was induced at 41 weeks with Allie ~ prostaglandin gel and had my water broken. It went really well... way better than I was expecting. I was 2 centimeters dilated and only 50% effaced and I wasn't having any contractions at all when I went in, but it still only took 5 hours from start to finish. thumb.gif The only thing was that the contractions got really intense after they broke my water, and they were pretty hard to manage. The tub helped with that though and by the time I decided I needed drugs there wasn't enough time and I had her within 15 minutes. happy.gif

I was induced with Sammy --- it wasnt a bad experience at all (had an epidural), but he just wouldnt drop. So, I ended up with a C-section.

Good luck ! I'm sure everything will be just fine.
