So there is a local company here called Glaser Farms, everything they make is raw vegan, they are raw foodists.
I love their food but OMG it's become off the charts expensive...just one brownie is nine dollars! Anyway, they sell their stuff here at Whole Foods, Idk if Whole Foods outside of South Florida carries their stuff or not. Anyway, they make these cashew that are spicy...I tried some and loved them but I'm not paying eight or nine dollars for a handful of cashews. So I checked out the ingredients--cashews, maple syrup, cayenne and sea salt, all raw. Well, I decided to try it myself--I got raw cashews but the maple syrup and the cayenne was not raw so I decided to roast the nuts once I mixed them. I left off the salt because I don't care for salt. So I mixed in some cashews, maple syrup (you really don't need much of this) and cayenne to taste (I used quite a bit as I love spicy food) and put them in the oven for about nine minutes at 375 degrees. OMG, they were so delish! Just thought I'd share if anyone wants to try it. I imagine you can also leave them out in the sun, I'm guessing that is how Glaser Farms does it, if you do find the raw ingredients and want to stay raw or if you just prefer to roast in the sun. But OMG, do not, I repeat, do NOT give these to children, they are super spicy. Unless your kids are all about spicy food as I was as a kid, do NOT let them have these, make them once they're asleep! -------------------- |
