My baby boy is 1 month old. He has acid reflux, and he is still being fussy. We are feeding him Parent's Choice Gentle formula, along w/ giving him Zantac, and Gripe Water. I have done alot of research on the internet, and alot of people recommend trying a formula w/ added rice starch. Is my baby boy too young to try this type of formula? So desperate, and any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks and God bless.

DO NOT GIVE HIM RICE. Their little systems aren't meant to handle food until they are much older. Only do it if your Dr suggests it.
I have dealt with big time reflux issues with all 3 of my kids. The #1 thing I would suggest you try is a soy based formula. lots of times getting rid of milk in their diet will clear things right up. |

In our experience (and unfortunately i have a LOT of experience in this department) The cereals with added rice starch just made for thicker vomit. If your baby is not terribly upset and still growing the vomiting is just your annoyance and no reason to treat differently. There are a couple other reflux meds that can be tried with infants if the needs arise Prevacid is really popular.
After surgery my son still delt with the acid burn for the next few years but started wearing a hazelwood necklace a few months ago and is a totally different child. We tend to be more homeopathic as opposed to relying on Western medicine as "typical" pharmaceuticals have never really worked for him. -------------------- |

the rice made my oldest really really constipated, which lead to other issues, and bloody stools. I pick reflux over that any day. ITA with not doing anything unless baby is in pain, or not growing.
