Macie has embarrassed me about a dozen times today telling people she had to go to the dentist to get the bugs and their poop out of her teeth I gave up trying to explain after the third or fourth time

I'm sorry, hun. At least it is taken care of. My kids use the term "bugs" too.
Now I'm holding my breath for our appt in a couple of weeks. *sigh* |

if it makes you feel any better, they found a cavity in K's tooth during her annual exam a few weeks ago. We go to get it fixed soon. She loves the dentist. Ours is awesome and so far, I've been allowed back with her. I'm thinking I may not go with her for the drilling even if I am allowed. That sound elicits a primal cringe from me and I'm sure that wouldn't help her confidence. LOL

Cavity does not hurt until it affects your gum. What's her eating habit, does she eat lots of candy or other foods that has added sweetener. If that is so, you can check on that.
