I want to start working with hand weights (mine are 5 lb.) to get some muscle tone. Does anyone have any suggestions of good exercises for a beginner??

Hmm, not sure. good question, though. I don't use weights but I tell you Taebo really does the trick for me. My arms get too muscular (in the past) with it, if I push it too much.

Walking w/arm swings. light aerobic exercise. light-wt. bench press. just an opinion.
Good idea is post-maternity one session (minumum) with personal trainer who is also a Mom, who's been there, who is sympathetic and stresses patience. Good luck and don't put too much pressure on yourself. |

Another thing - get yourself some motivational clothes which you "lean on" when exercising. My sister-in-law gave me some yoga clothes from Lavasurfer. It was LavasurferClothing.com. I have these yoga pants with a small dog snarling on one cheek. For some reason these pants motivate me.
