He is tongue tied and has to have his tongue clipped - very minor surgery they do it in the office, they put him out but not intubating, etc. the worst part is I can't be with him - I have to hand him over and let them take him which is going to be HORRIBLE - I am freaking out about that part but it will make a world of diff in his speech - he was evaluated by our early intervention program and his speech is right on - in fact really good but his articulation isn't so hot because of the tongue tie - so hopefully it will make the difference - the ENT said he is really tied which makes me really mad because we had no success at breastfeeding and that was why - there wasn't a lactation consultant that figured it out - they all knew we were having problems latching when he was born and no one figured it out - he could have had it done then and we could have gone on our merry way - growl.gif not much I can do about that now but it upsets me terribly.....

Anyway - surgery is March 7th.....so prayers...

Oh no, that sucks. My best friend just had a baby a month ago and had to have that same procedure, but they did catch it right away so they were able to just do it in the office at her newborn screening and go home. I wonder why they wont allow you to be in the room with him. ??? I can't imagine leaving my child at that age. ohmy.gif hug.gif

christine, can you ask to be allowed in the room until he falls asleep and then asked to be returned before wakes, even if they wont let you in during the proceedure?

I asked - they said No - I am sure they have reasons and from what I understand by the time I walk from the room they take him to the the waiting room he will be done - I was going to ask about getting a sedative for me laugh.gif
