I only bf Thomas for 2 weeks, I had lots of problems (plugged ducts, nighttime refusal) and was a nervous new mom and quit because I was miserable. This time I really want to try to go longer and hope I'm not as much of a nervous Nellie. I'd like to get a book to have handy. Can anyone recommend something for me? I saw one today, Complete Guide for Nursing Mom...I think, something like that, but wanted to ask around first to see what you all recommend. Thanks! |

It's been so long since I've breastfed. I've got a bunch of books at home, if I remember tonight I'll post the titles. |

The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding: Seventh Revised Edition (La Leche League International Book) Medications and Mothers Milk: A Manual of Lactational Pharmacology (Medications and Mother's Milk) Those are the only 2 I used. |

I agree with julesmom AND I would say for a fun, but educational read try "So That's What They Are For? - Breastfeeding Basics" by Janet Tamaro. I buy that book for every friend who is a new mom and BF. |

Here's some that were recommended by Parenting Club members when we had a discussion about this awhile back: http://www.parentingclub.com/resources/reading/index.php#bf Also, I would talk to the hospital that you are going to deliver in. The hospital we chose had educational classes on BF (which they gave me a ton of resources to read) and they set it up for a Lactation consultant to come to my room after Ashley was born. The LC was wonderful and gave me her card and was available if I needed her. They had LCs that would come out to your home too. But, before I asked what kind of resources were available, I had no idea that they had this program. |

I agree w/Dee Dee on the LC. I would have never succeeded with Kylie if it wasn't for the LC who helped me over and over again. I had so many issues and "malfunctions" I would have never succeeded on my own or with the help of any book. |
