I am so thrilled - I went to the OB today and so far (I'm 24 weeks) I've only gained 8 pounds (right on track, since I am MORE than a little on the heavy side!)......that made my whole day, heck, that may make my whole month!!

I get to go for my LOVELY glucose tolerance test in two weeks - yeech!! I still am not looking forward to tasting that stuff, but I also know that because of my weight and family history of adult-onset diabetes it really IS necessary.

Then in two more weeks, it's the U/S - all of our older kids are coming to see, and will probably drive the OB nuts (they want to know if it's a girl or boy, but we don't!) - so we need to remind him to NOT confirm or deny any of their gender guesses.

Now for my gripe!!
I had asked my OB about the possibility of a VBAC (I've had 2 C-sections, one with the first one, two VBACs and then one with the last one). I was really really suprised at his answer. He told me that he would be willing to look over my history and that it was a possibility because of the reasons for both of my C's. However, they had just had a meeting at the hospital he delivers at about what the hospital's insurance company would ALLOW!! I hate insurance companies as it is, but I thought that was totally and completely ridiculous. After all, this guy has been an OB for years, and I just thought it was stupid that the hospital's insurance company could dictate what he could/can't do for a patient. And, apparantly 3 of the other local hospitals have completely quit allowing VBACs because of insurance reasons, and one will only "allow" them from M-F 7 am to 3 pm because VBAC protocol requires a surgery crew to be on standby. If they are on standby and the woman delivers vaginally, then they aren't needed (and subsequently don't get paid their normal fees). I just think the whole thing sucks, and that it should be more geared to the woman, and not to some insurance company.

Whew - glad to get that off my chest - giggle - and hopefully he'll be able to bend the rules so I can try for vaginal delivery #3!!! If not, oh, well, figured it would be a C from the start, so not going to get too excited yet!

That sucks that the insurance companies can get away with dictating to the doctors! It should be the other way around...the doctors are the health experts! Geesh! Anyway...glad your appt. went well otherwise thumb.gif

Congrats on the weight etc ! I went in May 1rst as well *laugh* i actually have lost 1 1/2 more lbs which is fine 2 weeks ago i went in for water weight and was up 7 more so im back down to my normal 4lbs gained she said for the last month of this. Baby measures 36 1/2 weeks along and im at 36 so thats good but now im really wondering on the old stories on heart rates - its over 160 now, highest its ever been which is great but does that mean now i should wonder if i don't have a little girl on my hands seeing ive been so deep set that i swear its a boy wink.gif ? Dh boss now wants him to go to france for work to in June which really upsets me, i don't think i want him gone a week + when the baby could be anywhere from a month to not even here yet depending on if this goes late....

So how are you keeping exact in the weight game? Im starting to find info on how to loose it all when the baby is here smile.gif Any advice on that one being you have done this before? biggrin.gif

..oh yes and DH changed the name again if its a girl.. i still swear im going to just call this baby "It" no matter what.. will save on the worry of what people will think is okay for names etc, if i should even be doing that -

That's great about the weight gain--how the heck do you do it???

And I heard that VBACs are on the decline in this country--now I know why!!!!!

I hate insurance companies--we had to lie to ours when Iain had his surgery because they wouldn't pay for the night before the surgery because he had a heart cath the day before (which is an outpatient procedure) so our cardiologist had to list him as "critical" right after the cath so he could be officially admitted, even though they had penciled him in for surgery anyway. The nurse said they have to do tricky things like that all the time so patients can get the care they need.

Grrr!!!

OMG am I ever glad I live in Canada. None of that bull over here.... we don't have to pay to be seen by a doctor... it's all in our health care plan, and most things are covered by insurance, no matter what.

Last PG I was hungry ALL THE TIME - I couldn't get enough to eat ever. This time, I guess I am lucky - was kind of sick the first 3 1/2 months, but not to the point of puke.gif then I started eating 5-6 smaller meals and get full with them, so for that I am thankful!! Hopefully I will keep this up so that in the end, I'll not have too much more weight to get rid of - I have GOT to go on a diet after all BF and PG and everything is said and done! - bleech!

Before my #3, I really didn't diet - just BF and walking with the baby in the stroller. Took a year, but got it all off fairly painlessly. However, after number 3, I didn't really try, and it stayed. I finally got down to my pre-PG weight, but between Anders and this one, I didn't get it off again (my first goal after all is said and done!)

Too bad Alberta is the only province you have to $$PAY$$ for that insurance.

I miss Ontario!!!!!
