That is what the doctor and nurse said today when I took Megan in. Megan had to see the pediatric gastro specialist today and do you want to know how much this girl has gained in ONE MONTH???? She gained THREE POUNDS. I was wondering why I kept going through clothing sizes so fast this past month. Thank goodness I had all Kylie's clothes to go through and find ones that fit Megan because if I hadn't I would have had to be a shopping fool. I'm still in shock! Now I know breastfeeding her is the very best...it's sure doing her body G R E A T!!!!!
Besides her many gastro problems we had to address today, it looks like Megan has to see a "feeding team" on Halloween. They had us try solids with her a couple of weeks ago (about 2 wks ago) and as soon as it hits her tongue she gags and refluxes anything that's in her stomach. The food isn't even getting into her digestive tract, so she's spitting up mucous, saliva and breastmilk. BLAH! So the specialist thinks its important for us to see the team so they can help us figure out the best way to intro solids to her w/o causing lots of issues. Not that it's important to give her solids at this age anyways since they are supposed to be tastes but he's worried if we don't get her used to some tastes that we'll have a load of problems once she is NOT nursing anymore....either that or I'll be nursing her til she's a teenager. Edit: They think her aversion is associated with her refluxing and the pain of it. This post has been edited by boogabearzmom on Oct 14 2005, 08:37 AM -------------------- ~*Karen*~

OKAY...I have to take something back. I just looked back in my notes and she only gained TWO pounds in one month. For some reason I thought she was 13 pds 14 oz at her 6 month visit but she was 14 pds 14 oz. Wacky mom!

Still, 2 pounds is great!! She is growing so fast.
I'm sorry about the food aversions. I hope she can overcome that and they can give you some insight as to how to get her to eat more solids. Reflux is so painful, bless her heart. |
