Sorry to ask this gross question...the 18mo I babysit just pooped in her potty seat and when I went to flush it I noticed there was bloody, mucousy stuff in it. I tried calling her mom and she's not answering. Does that sound like something urgent, or just that I need to tell her mom about when she picks her up? Do I need to save it? blush.gif

I would keep calling her to find out if this is a normal occurence. Just to err on the side of caution...she may be upset if you wait to tell her. I've never seen blood in my children's stools. I'm not sure what would cause that. If I were you, I wouldn't save it.

yes that was my thought also, also if its bright red blood then its ok, its more then likely from a hard stool that caused a small fissure, or a hemorroid.
if its blood on the outside of the stool, its ok, if its mixed in with the stool, like in the middle thats not ok.
i would also want to be called if it were my child.
and let the mom decide.

I called and called and she never answered....but anyway, I did tell her about it and she said she'd keep an eye out for it again.
