Mya has the most irritating habit in the world. She cracks her knuckes quite frequintly. This is very annoying and i remind her constantly to stop to save her knuckles. That isn't the worst of it. She is extemely flexable in her back and has started to crack that as well. Thease crackings make me cringe because they are so loud. i often wonder if it is bad for her to be doing this. especially because she cant sit upright for longer then 30 min without her back hurting..
does anyone know anything i can do to stop these habits? and if they are bad for her spinal devlopment? (i plan on asking at her next appointment but in the meantime your opinions would be great) -------------------- Mya 7-1-00 |

As someone with a constant need to crack and what I have been told about said 'need' is that the cracking does not do any harm.
it is because I have bad knees that i cant get comfortable with out cracking them (usually 15-20 times in a row). If the cracking hurts her than that would be cause for concern but that is about it. -------------------- |

I think I'd be concerned about her not being able to sit upright for more than 30 minutes. I wonder if a chiropractor would be helpful... do they even see kids? Sorry, I am no help. Hope you get some answers.

Same here. I crack my knuckles constantly cause if I don't they feel "tight", if that makes any sense. I also crack my back when needed just because it feels so good. -------------------- Life is an incredible journey that is only enhanced by the people you share it with. ~ Rev Run |

Me too, Shelly. And my neck...I pop my neck a few times a day. Some chiropractors will see kids, I think if you were going to go that route I'd try to find one who specifically advertises that way. I haven't been in years, but when I went regularly I sure noticed a difference. |
